Set between November 1945 and early 1949, A Daughter's a Daughter is quite different from any of Christie's previous work for the stage. It does not rely on intrigue or detective work and sits much closer to the writings of Somerset Maugham or Terrence Rattigan than the style ususally associated with the Queen of Crime. It is, in many respects, a far more personal play than anything else Christie wrote, as it sets out to explore how resentment, jealousy and selfishness can corrode even the strongest of family bonds. First performed in 1956 at the Theatre Royal in Bath, its most recent outing was at the Theatre Royal Windsor in November 2009.
