Agatha Christie wrote nearly 160 short stories. This includes the recently discovered and published The Capture of Cerberus and The Incident of the Dog's Ball. She used many of the plots in later novels and plays. Here you can discuss each one.

Nicely done with a poignant ending
When I first read this story I reached the end and thought, but Miss Marple didn't say how she knew. However, looking back I realised that she made it quite clear when she told Sir Henry, "I know human nature."
I would be interested to see which new stories will be filmed for the enxt Marple series if it is renewed actually. I know the only novel left is Carribean mystery, cant wait to see how they'll change that!
I would have thought this one would be the best for the Marple series because of it being a departure from the others in the Book and so the Producers don't have tro think about Casting for the Dinner Party Guests which they didn't for The Blue Gerranium which I thought was a shame.

This, as the 'thirteenth' problem in that short story collection, departed from the formula of the previous stories. This added to its appeal to me, but I can't call it my favourite short story. This is probably because I saw the solution from miles away. And since people will solve different stories, this definitely won't be the universal case.
This is my favorite Miss Marple short story. Miss Marple figures out who did it without doing any investigating, and we get to see the seamy side of village life in Christie's very genteel presentation.
