I am writing today on the 15th Sep 2010 on occasion of the 120th birthday anniversary,
to wish you all the best and happy reading.
What prompts me to write is that I live in the church cottage in St Mary’s Church, car park. This is in Cholsey, Oxfordshire literally next to the grave yard and resting place of Agatha Christie (Agatha Mary Clarissa Mallowan and her husband Sir Max). This is where she entered into the greatest mystery of all that of life after death. I can’t help but think that the folk visiting the grave come to connected with the past in some way but the question is what of the future as I understand form various sources Dame Agatha was somewhat evangelistic in some of her writings (that is to tell others the good news of the bible, that Jesus, died on the cross so that our many sins may be washed away in the blood of His sacrifice and though his resurrection. To forgive us and reconcile us to God for all eternity – which if you may not have noticed is a long, long, long time).
Therefore the Dame’s concerned for the final destination of her readers was important to her. That if you were to have the same faith that Agatha had in Christ, you’ll meet her in eternity someday and be able to speak about the intricacies of her books and stories.
Scripture says that “Then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known” (1Cor:13:12 - N.I.V) we that believe will be able to talk and know each other in haven. Quite how this will be possible is a mystery, but we all like good mysteries don’t we?
I’m no aficionado on Dame Agatha, but I do know the author of life! So if you’re visiting the grave and feel like a chat about that ultimate divine mystery please feel free to knock and say hello.
The inscription on the grave reads;
Sleepe after toyle, port after stormie seas
Ease after war, death after life, does greatly please
