Alot of the Christie events from previous years have looked like great fun! The mystery hunts, plays and the costume ball. But there are some fans who are housebound/disabled, so one idea is an online event of some sort. Can anyone think of something?

Maybe clues hidden around the site for people to solve?

What a fantastic idea, MissQuin! As soon as I've finished my homework I'll come up w/ something! So far the clues hidden around the site is a great start.

Thank you  it would be lovely if everyone can get involved . I'm sure you can all come up with something more, like whoever solves the questions first gets a prize!

Yes, great idea, we'll devise something cunning, you wouldn't want it to be too easy!

That sounds so AWESOME!! What about a mystery short story competition? This could work in two ways:

1. Everyone writes a story and posts it. It's judged in marks out of 10 for characters, murder style, clues, solution, and detective. Then an average is made and the one with the highest mark wins a prize.

2. One story is posted, written by a moderator or someone. The ending is omitted and players must judge the killer and provide one proof that it is that person. From all the correct answers, one is drawn at randon and that person wins a prize. Other people's solutions will be hidden, and only one guess is allowed.

Those are such clever ideas Detective conan. Youve caught onto to what I was thinking.

Although if the moderators feel it's too time consuming, the clues could be shortened to paragraphs rather than a whole short story.

Great idea detective Conan! I love writing murder mysteries and have written two books and a volume of short stories.

Wow, seems you'll have a good advantage~♥

Another variation is that everyone writes one,  and we have a big event of trying to guess the solution. The player with most correct answers wins!

There are some great ideas!! i'm quite exited. I especially like the idea of finding the killer and motive to the ending of a short story !! I also like the idea of having clues etc hidden around the site !! :)

Oh my God! Just read the email newsletter- what is arranged sounds verrry interesting!  Now my curiosity is aroused...

I don't have the newsletter. Can you say whats in it?

Copied directly from my e-mule inbox:

"Also, coming soon to agathachristie.com - inspired by suggestions in the forum - will be an epic murder mystery game running from Spring all the way up until Christie Week. Keep your eyes peeled for any suspicious characters appearing on the site over the next few weeks, rumour has it that a murderer from a Christie story is on the loose and they're going to be targeting members of the agathachristie.com community! Be afraid, be very afraid..."

When IS spring, anyway? With global warming and whatnot, the seasons really are a mess. Look at me, all impatient... I'm so excited! I'm sharpening my mind now. Plus, I'm going to try and read as many Christies as I can to increase my knowledge of the murderers.

I think Easter heralds the starts of spring?

HeiseiHolmes-avatar
HeiseiHolmes 03 Mar 10 at 5:29 p.m. GMT

Ah... so far away... Right now, I'm suspiciously checking out every new profile. Nobody seems like a killer.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 03 Mar 10 at 5:31 p.m. GMT

Not sure that it's Easter the hunt starts, if they advertised it it's probably sooner.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 03 Mar 10 at 5:53 p.m. GMT

BTW how would you know it's someone with a new profile? it could be someone older, who planned it a while ago.. it might even be ME!

It was MissQuin, in the kitchen, with arsenic.. I put itno peoples Bran Flakes, Rice Crispies or even Shredded Wheat..

HeiseiHolmes-avatar
HeiseiHolmes 04 Mar 10 at 3:36 p.m. GMT

I would just be guessing... but now you say it, you do seem suspicious. And worse- I love all those cereals! Especially Branflakes! Oh, I'm doomed. (Joking- slightly.) But I think that since that newsletter said "appearing", then that means they would be new. Also, if someone was to change their username for it, then that would be changed on all their posts, right? That way, they'd instantly become suspicious. Unless they made a new account... which brings me back to the beginning of my circle. Hmmm. Ok, I'm confusing myself.
