I finished it (in Italian) yesterday, and I have to say that it left me a bit confused. The first half of the novel was very vivid and interesting, it almost reminded me of Secret Adversary in the mood. However, I found the ending to be - I don't know, but perhaps a bit rushed? I also did not understand all the fuss about Elvira believing that her life was being threatened - or were it just lies? Lying to Davy was one thing, but I think - if I remember correctly - that she even told her friend Bridget that "her life was in danger" or something like that? Was she referring to her crush on Malinowski all along? Also, if Bess was the head of the crime ring, why she had never been seen at the Bertram before? I had the feeling that the book could have used at least a hundred more pages to explain how everything worked together. But perhaps it's the Italian edition that has been cut? I'm waiting for the English copy to be delivered and see if I'll get a better understanding of it.
