Marple Actors

Here's a section to discuss Marple actors... Personally, I like Geraldine McEwan the most. Although I prefer Angela Lansbury as an actor in general, I don't really think she suits the part of Miss Marple as well as McEwan. Though I must say, I loved Lansbury in Death on the Nile!

I think Joan Hickson was the best Miss Marple. I just received a cd of the Tuesday Club Murders and was so happy she was the one reading it. She has such a melodious voice. Just love her.

Pipe dreams often come true Tommy so I hope you get to visit the other side of the world, albeit not necessarily as soon as you would have wished.

Tommy - I can highly recommend a trip to Oz. My twin brother lives in Auckland (New Zealand) and when I visit we meet up in Sydney and spend a week touring the sights (The Opera House & the Harbour Bridge are simply a-mazing !) then fly onto NZ for some more time together. Sydney is a vibrant and exciting city and I could very easily live there. Hope you get to visit for yourself. It's a vast country and so much to see but I've only had the good fortunate to see Sydney. I can also recommend New Zealand - I have seen most of both the North & South islands and it is a truly beautiful country. The Kiwis (and the Wallabies) are so welcoming. Do go !!

McEwan is my favorite. McKenzie is good but I like Geraldine McEwan in the part better. In my mind she fits the part better.

Pauline Collins plays the Female Sluth in the Updated version of Sparkling Cyanide Oliver Ford Davies plays her Husband and is supposed to be Race but they Changed the name, Pauline Collins was also in Upstairs Downstairs and the First series of Liver Birds She would make an nexcellent older Tuppence if the other books were done and Francessca Annis didn't want to do it. Maggie Smith Turned down the role of Miss Marple either by choice or because of Harry Potter.

Awesome :D Now I want a dictaphone!!!

Joan Hickson is pretty good; but I still like Julia McKenzie and Geraldine McEwan the best. I don't really like Margaret Rutherford - she just really doesn't suit the part! Who is Pauline Collins? I really think Maggie Smith should play Marple (she is old enough now and I think she suits it very well.)

Joan Hickson is my favorite, but Julia McKenzie is catching up -- especially after watching "The Pale Horse".  Pauline Collins was in that episode and she ranks as one of my favorite actresses.
