Not necessarily after rereading, but (being such a fan of Audio books) I sometimes find listening to the book can bring it to life for me, even if I haven't enjoyed the actual book. However, I don't really dislike any of the Marple books, although I think some are better than others. I'm just sorry there aren't more of them!!
My favourite Marple is probably A Murder Is Announced, closely followed by The Moving Finger (which actually doesn't really feel like a Marple book), Murder At The Vicarage, The Body In The Library and, oohhh, all the rest!! I find it SO hard to make this kind of list....
My least favourite Marples would still rate higher than an awful lot of other books I have read. I don't think any of them are bad at all, some just seem to appeal to me more than others. We all connect with different books in different ways and that what makes this site so interesting.
It's strange as I didnt like Poirot story Cat among the pigeons, I reread it (as I didnt have anything else) then I found it better! So these are my impressions of the books at the moment
Murder at the Vicarage 8/10
The body in the library 9/10
The moving finger 8/10
A murder is announced I would have rated it 7/10 the first time then 9/10 the second! I realised how clever it was.
They do it with mirrors 5/10
A Pocket full of Rye 2/10
4.50 from Paddington 7.9!/10
The mirror crac'd 6/10
A Caribbean mystery 2/10 the first time 4/10 second
At Bertrams 7/10
Nemesis 10/10
Sleeping murder 10/10
I also love the short stories. Has anyone lese changed their views on a Marple book, after they re-read it?
Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear.
When the wealthy patriarch, Aristide, is murdered, suspicion falls on the whole household. ...
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help ...
