Appointment With Death is my favourite, along with Five Little Pigs. Nice to meet someone who agrees!!
Death in the Clouds is a great book to start w/. My first book was Cards on the Table. Have you read that one?
And yes, I've read Appointment With Death; it's an ingenious plot, and it was very well written, with lots of interesting characters. Emma, have you read Lord Edware Dies or Sad Cypress? Those are my two favorite Poirot books.
No, certainly not...I've just read a small part of them~And my first Poirot book is Death in the Clouds,I think Appointment With Death is also a great one.Do you think so?And Beijing is a good place, I think,(but Beijing just doesn't have AC week, what's a pity...),welcome to my homeland!
Was Curtain your first Poirot book, Emma?
Wow! Beijing! How fantastic!! And you envy me for being in England? And I see now, looking back at the start of this thread that you had already said where you lived!! Sorry for me being so thick!
So Curtain is your favourite book? I think it's a great one too, but I find it difficult to read because of the end. I'm guessing (mostly due to your username) that Poirot is your favourite detective. Have you read all the Poirot books?
I'm living in Beijing now. And I think my favorite AC book is Curtain(although it is a really sad endding ),but I think it's perfect, isn't it?
Where in the world do you live EmmaXuHP? Yes, I know am lucky to live in England, as it is a beautiful country, and I'm lucky to be close enough to Devon to get there now and again. But the opportunities are few and far between!!! Also, at the moment our weather here is ATROCIOUS, so England is feeling far from being a green and pleasant land. Its just VERY blowy and wet!!
At least you have a good friend who shares in your taste for good books!! I have NO ONE I can enjoy a good discussion about AC and her works with. No one, that is, except all my very good like-minded friends on this site! So I'm not moaning, really!! Let us know which AC books you really like, Emma.
Oh, and welcome to the site!!
I think I recall seeing JennyLeeAHastings user name amongst the new users list a little while ago.
BTW What's your favorite AC book, Emma?
yeah~I quiet agree with Bundle. And I really felt a little envy at Puffinjill.
I've never been to UK.Also Devon,I hope I can get there in the future.I celebrated that week with my friend JennyLeeAHastings. She is a big AC fan too.
It's held in my country but I've never been able to get to it yet! Life/work/money/etc always seem to get in the way. If I'm very lucky, I manage to get to Devon once a year and for in a day at Torquay but never during the official week. A couple of years ago I dragged my other half around the Agatha Christie Trail which covers all the places in torquay featured in her books or were important in her life and took a trip up the River Dart past Greenway House. I enjoyed it, anyway!! I am praying I can get there again this year and (big, big prayer) really want to get to see inside greenway now it is open to the public.
Anyone want to join me? Got a spare room if you want to make the journey....
It would be wonderful if they had an AC week in other places around the world too, wouldn't it, Emma and Amabile?
Oh my-- I din't even know there was a AG week. Haha. I guess that kind of celebration would happen in the UK, but here in Brazil we have none of that, unfortunately! But a couple of weeks ago I did spend a whole holiday watching one of the adaptations... I think that kind of works as a way of celebrating, perhaps? =)
Hi Emma and welcome to the site! I hope you decide to stay and chat on our little forum.
I'm from the US and unfortunately I live too far away to have gone to the Agatha Christie gathering. But I did celebrate it in my own way by watching a lot of Poirot adaptations!
Agatha Christie week was ages ago!
Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear.
When the wealthy patriarch, Aristide, is murdered, suspicion falls on the whole household. ...
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help ...
