I only glanced at the graphic novels when I was at the shop in Torquay. They're definitely not for me. As others have said, I do hope that those who begin by reading these graphic novels will go on to read the books themselves, because nothing can ever measure up to the original, in my opinion.
We read with interest your thoughts on the Graphic novels and asked the Publishing Director at HarperCollins whether he would write something to give a little of the history as to how they came into being. His article can be found in the blog if you would like to read and comment.
squatty
I agree with you squatty
I agree with david.. it kind of hurts the story and takes away alot of imagination requred in these books... They never really seemed atractive to me.
I was sorry to hear that you didn't like these books. We wanted to try to appeal to a new audience who might then go on to read and enjoy the novels. I do appreciate that they may not be to every fans taste but they have proved very popular in France, the home of bandes dessines, and also in the UK. It is really important to us that Christies amazing plots can be appreciated by different people in different ways.
I hate graphic novels so I never bought them. It's very insulting!

I have looked at the recent spate of Agatha Christie graphic novels and would welcome comments from anybody else who has done the same. I personally feel that the dumbing down is an insult to the originals and I am not quite sure who the audience could possible be for them as they are not exciting enough for a comic fan and no self respecting Christie fan would start with them
