Halloween Party

I will be reading Halloween party this week , Thought it would be a good one to read this time of year , now that the leaves are falling and the Pumpkins are being picked.

I haven't yet figure it out when exactly Miranda told Michael Garfield that she knew about the crime(s) they have committed. Apparently it is only after the death of Leopold, or I am mistaken? and how could Poirot realize that Miranda's life is just now in danger, sending that telegraph to Ariadnne?

Was the last words of that telegraph about visiting a doctor a "cover" as Ariadnne suggests?

That's one of the books where I easily guessed the murderer. The clue was too obvious for me.

If I had to rate it I would Say 8/10 Very interesting.. I was litterally shaking twords the end.

I really enjoyed this book. This is one of the very few Agatha Christie mysteries that I managed to solve (well, I managed to solve about 95% of it).

I'm currently reading Hallowe'en Party for the first time and loving it.  I am glad to read how many of you thought it a great ending.  I can't wait to find out who did it...and why.

Hallowe'en Party is a good book although it's one of the weakest AC books I've ever read but I found it intersting somehow. The atmosphere, the characters, the surprising and shocking ending. I think the book has a mystical side, oh, that end was so spiritual and scary! There are some references to Halloween what makes the book darker. My favourite character is Miranda, obviously I love Ariadne Oliver and Hercule Poirot! This book is a little strange for my taste.

She was a really good friend to him.. I doubt if it was Love but just a really good friend.

I don't think you're far off here, LiliFan, I think Miranda definitely has feelings for him, but not romantic ones. She is a very unusual child, almost spiritual, and I think he appeals to her on this level. There's something dream-like, almost other-worldly about their "relationship"-- which he takes advantage of.

Yes, she could! Why not?? You obviously don't know much about girls... I mean could you give me some proof that I'm wrong, if you recently read the book and know it well? Because what I remember is - she was 'covering' him exactly because she had some tender feelings for him, as he was a very interesting personality and an attractive man. It was probably something childish, but that was the explanation of her strange behavior that I remember. :/

Can someone else help me out here, since this book was supposed to be discussed, but all that was actually said were just compliments in its address?

Maybe she loved him as a friend and Miranda is only a child so she wouldn't be inloved in an older man in his twenties or thirtees

Well, there definitely was something about that little girl being in love... I don't want to look it up, because I prefer to reread books from the beginning, but I'm not making it up.

It was a bit disappointing, but still fun. Now that I've read previous comments I'm reminded of some good and creepy moments in the book, particularly that scene in the end, when that little girl runs away to meet the murderer, whom she turns out to be in love with... :o

I'm going to rate this as a 9/10. It was really good. The only Christie book that I like more is "Toward Zero", which is my favorite. The thing at the end, with the goblet, is really cool.

I don't like so much Hallowe'en Party. There're better books. Miss Oliver is a bonus, and makes the story really fun. Note: 6/10
