Hello guys! I bought this book last Saturday. I finished reading it last Monday. I really love this book. I'm so shocked at the end of the story. My favorite characters are Cornelia Robson and Mrs. Allerton. Salome Otterbourne is also my fave but she didn't talked too much but Mrs. Allerton did. I rate this book 10/10 or 20/10 because this book is really excellent! How about you?

I loved Death On the Nile and I have no idea why I dodn't figure it out. At the end there was a whole ten minutes of OOHH! Everyone else is going on about the Otterbournes and Fanthrop so I'll be different and say that my favourite character, through-and-through is none other than the great Hercule Poirot.

Death on the nile is one of the best Poirot and Christie books I've read. The charcaters and location is fantastic, and the writing itself is very interesting and makes you want to read more. The actual killing itself is very clever as well as who dunnit!

i'v only ever seen death on the nile, but even so i loooooooved it to!!! it was Actually the first agatha christie story i'ed seen!

Me too!  It was watching the fab (albeit far from the book) Ustinov film that got me into Christie in the first place, many, many moons ago.  I've never quite liked the book as much as the film, shows you should generally read the book first before the film colours your views!

Without giving the game away mirror, can you say what the "strange evidence" was?

I think it is one of the best novels AC wrote in that she deceived readers very well .I love the way Poirot unravels the strange evidence which a victim gave , which is very simple in itself but difficult to recognise the meaning.Poirot counts on logic to solve mysteries and that's why his solutions are theoretically almost perfect.

I've seen the movie, but not the actual book. I rate the movie 9/10, so I think the original novel will be better.

That's why I didn't like Emily Blunt as Linnet, she played a futile and stereotypical Linnet when she was just so kind! Mr. Ferguson, I love him! He does have human feelings but he doesn't show them. I think he's funny and a little shy sometimes, he has a nice and sensitive side but he tries to hide it! Jacqueline keeps being my all time favorite AC character.

Mr. Ferguson has no human feelings at all- I agree. I dislike Jacqueline but I like Linnet. You know, Linnet is kind and generous. Read the first pages of the book and there are some scenes there that proves Linnet is kind.

I think Death on the Nile is one of the best AC books. The plot is ingenious, the characters are intelligent and ( some) funny.I like Jacqueline but I don't dislike Linnet too. They're like two different parts of one single person.I really disliked Mr.Ferguson,he's so annoying and he hasn't any human feelings,at all!

I agree with you but I still dislike Jacqueline. I like the old woman Ms. Van Schuyler because she's talking funny sometimes specially when she ask things. The Otterbournes are also quite funny especially Salome Otterbourne. My favorite characters are Mrs. Allerton and Cornelia Robson. This is my fave book by AC. I think you should also read "Evil Under the Sun" and "Cards On the Table" because they are very good books! have a nice day =)

I finished my re-reading today. Wonderful ending. It was so touching and melancholic. When I come to the end, I always claim Jackie as my favourite character. She just steals my heart all the time. Dr. Bessner is now one of my favourite characters, he's so hilarious and makes me laugh. Otterbournes, like I already mentioned in my previous reply, are the perfect mix between the happiness and the melancholy. I think DOTN is now my favourite Christie. It makes me smile, cry... every emotion and feeling is well portrayed and the characters always have something positive and the triangle that the main characters form is so captivating - Linnet, Simon and Jackie have so much life and charisma.

I agree. I think Linnet is kind because she shares her fortunes. I like Cornelia for her simplicity and honesty and being happy but I dislike Ms. Schuyler but yes she's sometimes funny when Ms. Schuyler always say things to people.
