Rate Death On the Nile book

Hello guys! I bought this book last Saturday. I finished reading it last Monday. I really love this book. I'm so shocked at the end of the story. My favorite characters are Cornelia Robson and Mrs. Allerton. Salome Otterbourne is also my fave but she didn't talked too much but Mrs. Allerton did. I rate this book 10/10 or 20/10 because this book is really excellent! How about you?

It has been a while since I last red Death On The Nile. However, it is a book I like very much, and I would give it 10/10, too. As usual, Christie's characters are very real, and very interesting. My favourite character in this novel is Tim Allerton.

Have you seen any of the TV adaptations yet? I know the old adaptation with Peter Ustinov very well, and like it a lot. Unfortunately, I was not very taken with the newer adaptation with David Suchet as Poirot. David Suchet was perfect as usual in his role, but I didn't like the changes that were made.

Yes.The David Suchet version made too much changes but the movie is still good. They also deleted the Nurse Bowers and James Fanthorp.Thanks for replying.

Well, they made a few changes to characters in the Peter Ustinov version, too. But I didn't mind those changes so much. I'd rather have no Tim Allerton at all than an unlikeable one :)

Death on the Nile is just great, the plot is so ingenious! I think I would rate the book 9½ /10.

I liked Death of the Nile, but I wouldn't say it is one of my best. The ending didn't come as a total surprise.

Yes, I also disagree, the ending was so surprising! I think I love Death on the Nile because of the ending, indeed, I'd never thought about it... it was so romantic!

I would give Death on the Nile either a nine point five or a ten. I saw it first as a film and then my mum told me that it was available as a book so I decided to read it. Death on the Nile got me hooked! Death on the Nile has such a twisting and turning surprise of an ending that every time I read it I always notice another clue or red herring. This is the genius of christie's writing, you can go back and enjoy it again and again. As I grow up the stories have different meaning in them to when I first read them and this makes me appreciate them even more.

I'd give the book a 9/10. I love everything to do with Egypt and the plot is intriguing. SPOILER I especially love the beginning of the book where Poirot sees Jackie and Simon in the restaurant and thinks to himself "Une qui aime et un qui se laisse amier" (she loves and he lets himself be loved). I think that is perfectly portrayed in the DS version. IMO Simon was just dazzled by Linnet and Jackie got involved because of his remark "If this was a book, I would marry Linnet and inherit all her money and then after a time I'd come back to you and marry you" (paraphrased, but more or less like that). So Jackie knew she had to make up a plan. She could have told Simon he was being silly and that would never happen. But she decided to get involved. END OF SPOILER I like both versions of the film for different reasons. PU's version, even though a lot has changed, is a very good film. DS's version is closer to the book and I adore him as Poirot.

I enjoyed reading Death on the Nile and i would rate it 9.5/10. It's definitely one of my bests + i absolutely loved the Egyptian setting. In fact i love the Christie novels when they are set in exotic places. You tend to lose yourself as you read along. After all that's the genius of Agatha Christie.

I haven't seen the Tv adaptation though. I prefer to stick to the books most of the time.

But Death On the Nile is a must-read.

Probably in my top three AC novels. I love it that everyone I know who has read the book falls into the trap that AC sets, when really the murderer should be quite obvious. I really enjoyed both the film and TV versions. There were less characters deleted in the TV version. My only gripe was I found the actor playing Simon Doyle in the TV role unconvincing.

That is a man who played as Simon Doyle in the David Suchet version. duhhh I thought he is very famous like Tom Cruise but you still don't know who JJ was.

Lol - No, sorry. I couldnt place the name at all. In the film version Simon McCorquindale portryaed Doyle as not very bright but you could also see why he would be attractive to both Jacqueline and Linnette. I apologise but I just found JJ rather wet

This is my favourite novel by Christie and I find both film adaptions better than most others, even if I think they should have sticked to the script a bit more. However, my favourite Nile caracter is Ferguson - does anyone know his first name? - who also is my favourite Christie caracter. I don't like many of the others, even though they are interesting to study.

I'm re-reading Death on the Nile and I love it even more! I still loving Jacqueline but now I'm in love with Salome and Rosalie Ottourbone! They're so hilarious! I like Linnet, she isn't a bad neither a futile person at all! Simon annoys me all the time, I just hate him! I'm just in the beginning of the book so some of the characters didn't appear yet and probably my opinion will change about them so I'll write something about it sooner. Death on the Nile is such a great book! I always get fascinated by it.

I really agree with you ariadnepoirotmarple or whatever your name is. I hate Simon Doyle. I also dislike the maid Louise Bourget. The Otterbournes are funny sometimes. I'll read it again... DOTN is really an excellent whodunit novel!

I'm almost in the end of the book and I love every character! They all have some special magic and power (except Simon, of course.)! I like Jackie for her hot temper, Linnet for her kindness (I think she's kind!), Otterbournes are hilarious but always have their melancholic side and that's why i like them, I love Fergurson for being so different and extremely irritant, Jim Fanthorp is shy and I like it, I don't mind Cornelia Robson for her honesty and simplicity, Allertons are funny sometimes, Mrs. Van Schuyler is so demanding but in such a funny way! I think the others characters are boring but have their qualities.
