Now as I start Murder of Roger Akynroyd he lives in Kings Abbot.. Where does he ever have a perminate residence? If so Where?

He kept moving, He Lived at Styles when he was a Refugee then lived at Whitehaven Mansions during his Career and when he retired to grow The Vegetable Marrows he lived in Kings Abbot, I am not sure if he went back to Whitehaven Mansions but ABC Murders which is a book which has him at Whitehaven Mansions and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd which has him living at Kings Abbott are both early books and Classic Christie's (Before she started Waffleing about the world going to Hell and went on endlessly about Evil, Poirot might have moved back to London as Cards On The Table was a later book but still in the Classic Period, but he did return to Styles in Curtain where he died.

The Building usedd for Whitrhaven Mansions is actually in Clerkenwall, London, I sawa programme on Art Deco Buildings on ITV3, I personally prefer the apartment in the older episodes, I like the Art Deco-ness and for me it is nore cosy and looks much nicer but then I prefer the earlier Episodes, George wasmuch too unsympathetic to Poirot's feelings in Halloween Party in my opinion but I did like where Poirot was living in The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and The Hollow and I liked those Adaptations.

I actually think the apartment they use in the newer Poirots is more elegant and up-market than the first one. I love all the books in his study and the dark, sleek symmetry of the finishings.

Whitehaven mansions, somewhere in W1, near Piccadilly tube!

Vegetable marrows are a kind of squash, usually green with a generally oblong shape. Here are some pictures of giant vegetable marrows: http://www.geocities.com/sunflower_info/Marrows.html Marrows usually taste of sour water, which is why Poirot wants to develop a new strain of vegetable marrow that does NOT taste of water. He never specifies what he does want the marrows to taste like.

In "Mysterious/Styles," Poirot is a recent refugee from Belgium during WWI, having previously been a leading police detective. He has been forced to flee his homeland, and is living reasonably comfortably due to the generosity of Mrs. Inglethorpe. Soon after the war ends, Poirot begins a new life in England as a private detective. Poirot and Hastings are roommates in London with a landlady (like Holmes and Watson at 221B Baker Street) for a few years, then Hastings marries and moves to Argentina. Poirot lives alone for a few years, then decides to retire after solving the Big Four case. Poirot then moves to King's Abbot to grow vegetable marrows, then after solving the "Murder of Roger Ackroyd," he tires of country life and moves back to London. He lives at Whitehaven Mansions luxury apartments for most of the rest of his life, (aside from trips and excursions) although he spends his last weeks back at Styles.
