That's fine, Butler. I shan't pester you for it - I simply was worried that you would have forgotten all about it!

Miss Quin: Yes, a Discussions: Volume Two thread might be rather welcome. This thread does seem to load somewhat slowly.

John Shaw was crying as he was led into the interrogation room, where Madoc had made himself look comfortable, ciggarette in th one hand, coffee in the other. Mdoc had expected a lot of things but not tears.

"Would you like something to drink?", he asked Shaw. Shaw shook his head. He has slumped into the chair on the other side of the desk, his shoulders sagging. head bowed and sobbing. He mumbled something.

"I didn't catch that", Madoc said.

"I said I didn't do it", Shaw answered quietly. "How could I do it? I love Veronica".

Madoc noted the present tense.

"Can you account for your whereabouts for the day of the murder?", Madoc asked. Eventually Shaw looked up. His eyes were stinging red. Madoc stared into his eyes but said nothing. Shaw seemed to be calming. Seemed, too, to know what was expected of him.

Right that's all I've been able to do so far. I've been very busy with other things this week. Sorry about the wait but I can post the next bit soon.

I never read crime books apart from Chrisite and now Heyer. Ive tried others, but no got into them. I prefer other genres.

Maybe try posting in the "other authors section) Butler?

Yes, this story has become like Household works! We have to wait so long til the next instalment!

Actually it's getting slow to load this post. Do you lot mind if I posted a Discussioons part two post?

I'm afraid not me. I've only ever read a bit of Poirot as I can find, the Harley Quin saga, ATTWN, a few odds and ends, and one Sherlock Holmes.

On the other hand, has anyone read the end of Butler's story yet? I'm still waiting...

Just thought I'd ask, has anybody read any of Colin Dexter's Inspector Morse books? I am considering buying a few.

I don't know, why shoot a Butler? Unless, that is, if the shot was with Cupid's arrow, then everything makes perfect sense.

Fare-well, Miss Quin. Until another time...

Thank you my dear. Death in Stock souns great so I'll read that. In the ye olden days of England, they put people who comitted crimes, in the stocks and threw rotten egg, veg and worse and them!

Why shoot a Butler? I don't know, but our Butler will quake in fear. It does sound as if the old sterotype "the butler did it!" has been turned on it's head doesn't it?

I will let you all know what I think of them.

Anyway i must be off so I say goodbye for now.

The mystery chronology, as written in Georgette Heyers' website, is as following:

A Blunt Intstrument Behold, Here's Poison Death in The Stocks (Merely Murder) Detection Unlimited Duplicate Death Envious Casca Footsteps in The Dark No Wind of Blame Penhallow The Unfinished Clue They Found Him Dead Why Shoot a Butler?

Then, from your books, it would be Death in the Stocks, Detection Unlimited, Duplicate Death, Footsteps in the Dark, No Wind of Blame, and They Found Him Dead. From the list, the final book interests me greatly.

Kate Moss does not look quite beautiful for me. I've had a long chat with my close friend, and we've decided that the most beautiful famous woman we know is Adriana Tuchyna Stoner. Funnily enough, she's not an actress, supermodel, or even musician; she's the wife of a MotoGP rider.

Books I have Duplicate death, Detection unlimited, Death in the stocks, They found him dead, The wind of blame, Footsteps in the dark.

Yes, ok which is first out of that lot? thank you for looking it up Harley(blows kiss)

Oh, I guess it's hard to know what the opposite sex sees in people isnt it?. I always find it hard to know why men fancy certain women. Kate moss for instance, whose a useless stick insect..

But I don't know what people see i Brad Pitt! Even before he had that terrible beard (now gone), I just didn't see it.. Give me JJ Feild and matt Smith anyday.

RPattz (that's how I heard some fangirls called him) did cause some ladies to swoon over him. Figuratively speaking, I know two. Literally swooning, none, thank goodness. Personally, I don't see what's handsome about him. I fancy AC will call him as having a "strong, square jawline, with messy hair about his head".

Just a moment, s'il vous plait. Apparently, the books are meant to be read in chronological order (at least, from what I gather), although I have the idea that the writer of the article I am reading is implying that not reading it as such is fine. Which titles do you have, if I may ask, Miss Quin?

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 13 Jul 10 at 3:48 p.m. GMT

Oh, you wonder Harley! Yes, can you see if the Georgette heyer's mystery novel are meant to be read in order? Are they refrences to other cases, like there is in Poirot?

Thanks

I wonder if Bundle has seen the new Twilight? I wonder if Robert Patterson has caused fainting females in the the fronts of the cinema? I used to like him, but rather gone off him now. Sorry if that sounds fickle. it's just you can see fame change a person...

Ive never had any interest in superheroes, so that's marvel out. Although Batman has an enemy with a name we both know!

Yes, indeed the World Cup is a lot more enjoyable when it is held once every four years like now.

If you wish, I can look up the GH books. I won't risk spoiling them since that's what I do anyway. How else does one go about with extensive knowledge of the new topics without actually contacting said topics (in a hushed voice: Twilight)?

Marvel comics, eh? The only Marvel I rather like is Spider-Man. Not as if I prefer DC to it.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 13 Jul 10 at 3:15 p.m. GMT

Ah, well I expect you enjoy the World cup more as it's not every year. Anyway I expect you'll have more ime for reading. I have a whole stash of books lined up, although I'm not getting as much time as i'd like. I'll pick a GH to read but if it's meant to be read in order, I don't know. If I looked it up I might find out the endings. That happened with a programme I sometimes watch. Some people should be told to use spoilers warnings!!

The invisable detecitve-never heard of it. The covers looked like a marvel comics.

Quite glad of it, are you? I'm a bit saddened that the football season is over, on the other hand. Mostly because the one-season "fans" will be gone, and so will all the football-themed decorations. Until Euro 2012, at least.

Invisible detective series? No, I've never heard of them before. It's a good thing I didn't make my invisible fellow some smart detective then.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 12 Jul 10 at 4:32 p.m. GMT

Stephen Fry loves them, so if theyre good enough for a genuis like him, well good enough for moi!

In the same charity shop, there were some invisiable detective series books. Never heard of them. They looked like fantasty crossed with crime. Not my type but have you heard of them Harley?

Agatha Raison are Miss Marple spoofs set in modern day. It's supposed to be light. I didn't really found them like that. More wry and world weary, but there must be fans out there. But I see them in second hand shops alot.

I'm quite glad the footballs over!

HarleyBarley 12 Jul 10 at 4:25 p.m. GMT

I have not read either Agatha Raisan nor Georgette Heyers. Perhaps I shall keep both names in mind for future reference. Presently, I am overjoyed that Spain has won the World Cup. When my friend asked what I am to do after Italy was out, she laughed when I replied that "I still have Spain". I wonder what she thinks now that the team she had laughed at won...

Oh this is funny! Last night I was looking at Georgette Heyers on amazon. I was considering buying some, as their so hard to get second hand where I live. This very afternoon I went into a charity shop and managed to get good condition nearly new copies of her detecitive stories. 6 for £5.00 so I'm v pleased!  I was leaping with joy, well nearly..!

Ive never read GH crime stories yet. Do they have to be read in order?I found her romances delightful. Ive not read many yet. After Ive read AC I'll read a GH. The Death in stock sounds brilliant. I like my crime stories light and witty.

I wish they'd dramatise GH books into adapts. Not just keep making Jane Austen, because the JA versions they have are unbeatable. Lots of men I'd like to see in those ;)

Has any one read Agatha Raisan stories? I tried one but failed to see what was so great, or funny about it.

I rarely buy new books ever. I mean the amount I get through would be expensive brand new.

MissQuin, do you mean the Georgette Heyer's detective novels or her regency romances? I was lucky enough to find 10 out of the 12 detective titles in my local cut-price book shop (I think it's called The Works) where they sell paperbacks for £1.99 or 3 for £5.00. I think these places must get their hands on any excess left over from a print run so there is no saying what will appear in them and it's worth a quick look at their stock every now and then. The remaining two that I couldn't find I did have to order from Amazon but, as the others were so cheap, I didn't mind so much paying a little more for them as I really wanted to have the whole collection. But I would say the majority of my books come from Charity and second hand shops and it is a rare day indeed when I pay full price for a book.

Forgive yet another abrupt disappearance, please. I've had scarcely time to say my leaves lately.

Conversation's being rather slow, innit?

I can get some Chrisite's easily enough. But I usally buy mine second hand, so some of the books are hard to get. The non serries ones are rare. Of course I can get them off amazon or ebay anytime. Lucky really. I now have that problem with PG wodehouse and Gergette Heyers- I can't find them second hand.

They came to Baghad was 50p, so I'm pleased!

now off to search again for this elusive clue.
