I realize that I'm a full year late to this conversation (I'm new to this site), but I've had a lot of fun reading up on it. I could talk about different actors and adaptations all day long!

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 31 Aug 10 at 3:32 p.m. GMT

I do!!! I do!!! It's just Ive not met the right man! I said about wedding "plans" on the other topic, but really just fantasies.

I said Regency wedding, 30's style wedding and maybe Victorian. Yes, it's expensive. :) Come over and be another bridemaid?!

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 31 Aug 10 at 3:27 p.m. GMT

Oh I wish I'd meet JJ! If I had to, I'd ask him to marry me. But why don't you want to get married?

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 31 Aug 10 at 3:24 p.m. GMT

Ahh, bless you Bundle! I don't mind older men, in fact I like them better! I hope you meet JJ, I mean it's a match made in heaven surely?

Puffinjill and I were having this wedding discussion. Neither of us are getting hitched, but still, we dream on! I said I'd like an older man, someone whose not childish and idea of a fun date is McDonalds

http://www.agathachristie.com/forum/have-your-say/discuss-poirot/ladies-who-would-you-marry/

Who woul you marry topic, Poirot Hastings or Japp! The answers were hysterical.

Bundle_ 31 Aug 10 at 3:17 p.m. GMT

I think he is still married to Emma Thompson. Odd union, don't you think? Will keep my fingers crossed that you'll run into him one day and sweep him off his feet! He needs a nice, lovely girl like you MQ!

I don't have as many favorite actresses as I do actors, but the ones I do like are Elisabeth Dermont Walsh, Megan Dodds, Drew Barrymore and Kristen Stewart.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 31 Aug 10 at 3:14 p.m. GMT

Ive been to Saltram house where Greg Wise was in Sense as Willoughby!! I didn't know til afterwards. Just as well if I fainted there.

Is he still married to Emma thompson? She's been horrible lately. If he divorced her, I'm here! Yeah, in my dreams...

I don't have a favourite actress! But maybe Joanna Lumley as she's intelligent and I wish I was as elegant as her. She stands up for good causes like the Gurkhas and is a animal lover, as am I. Whose yours?

In the Little Princess, that story "supposedly" happened to someone in my family a few generations back. They were stuck at a boarding school and were forced to do all the chores! Or so the rumour goes.

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 31 Aug 10 at 3:10 p.m. GMT

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Greg Wise! He is so handsome! You're going to make me faint, MQ, just thinking about him!

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 31 Aug 10 at 3:08 p.m. GMT

I haven't read either book yet. I want to read The Little Princess though. I know it's a children's book but I just love the Liam Cunningham adapt so much!

What are your favorite actresses, btw, MQ?

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 31 Aug 10 at 3:04 p.m. GMT

Steve John Shepherd...Ive never seen him in anything! I just saw his picture and fell in love with him! I know he was in that horrible Desperate Romantics where my childhood idols,  Dante Gabriel Rossetti and his friends, names were bismirched by debauched goings on!! sob,

I do wish the would STOP remaking the most famous ones. They dodn't even wait 10 yrs now. How many versions of A Christmas Carol and Oliver Twist do you need?

Wilkie Collins now, I'd like them to make some of his. Ive yet to see the moonstone, but I love Greg wise. In fact he's my biggest crush. I could listen to him all day, he sounds as good as he looks! The book was very good, Ive been searching high and low for more Wilkie Collins.

The plot of The Moonstone has been "borrowed" some recent dramas. Have you ever read it?

I'd like them to remake Tenant Of Wildfell Hall though. It sounda like there's a adapt that was close enough to the book. I ade that book and it's as good as Jane Eyre, have you read it?

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 31 Aug 10 at 2:58 p.m. GMT

I heard that Wuthering Heights is going to be made again too! Gosh you'd think w/ all the other hundereds and hundereds of classic books they'd make those! I.E. The Woman in White. That hasn't been done for a while.

Gotta look up Steve John Shepherd...

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 31 Aug 10 at 2:56 p.m. GMT

How long you got?! LOL

Toby Stephens, JJ Feild, Jonathan firth, Colin Firth, Mr Wickham in P&P, Matt smith, Steve John Shepherd, the list goes on.. I'm not flighty or anything! I'm sure there's more for the list you know!

My fave music genre is Symphonic metal, so you see I don't fancy any singers! Those are usually women (not interested) or men who aren't my cup of tea.

Ive not heard about any up and coming costume adapts apart from Jane Eyre been made (again!!)

You like any singers?

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 31 Aug 10 at 2:51 p.m. GMT

Who's your biggest crush, MQ?

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 31 Aug 10 at 2:47 p.m. GMT

I like Matthew Goode! Especially in My Family and Other Animals looking all tanned and lovely!

I playfully told off mcginty for his overally frank remarks about Mr Franco ;) Why are there so many hot actors who begin with F?! Firth, Feild, Franco..

I remember you said about Tom mison but that may have been on the Austen 4 fan site, not on AC forum?

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 31 Aug 10 at 2:38 p.m. GMT

I just can't resist talking about guys....

McGinty: You got to see Centurion?! Lucky you!

Miss.Quin: Do you mean Matthew Goode? He was in Brideshead Revisted. I think he's a great actor but not that cute.

But I adore Tom Mison! He was in Third Girl. I don't think I ever mentioned him before....

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Aug 10 at 5:27 p.m. GMT

I wonder if some enterprising person will set up a hot new collection of bow ties. The emo collection- ones with skulls on. The sk8tr collection and so forth.  One to match every style.

I like that actor in Murder is announced but forget his name?

TheButlerDidIT-avatar
TheButlerDidIT 29 Aug 10 at 1:58 p.m. GMT

Thanks McGinty.

Erm... bowties are cool.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 28 Aug 10 at 1:13 p.m. GMT

Well McGinty has forgiven you for your mistake and  not requesed you change your monkier to TheButlerPutHisFootInIt!

I can discuss actors who are brilliant, but maybe not what your call conventionally attractive.

Burn Gorman is very good. Ive seen in him in a couple of things and he can do different accents that sound genuine. He is an amazing actor. Bleak house, Ordeal By Innocence and the bits Ive seen of Wuthering Heights. I don't hear much about him, so he must be underated. Any other really good actors?

Yeah, sorry I can't give good judgement on actresses, because I not notice them very much.

But onto clothing- part of the appeal for me of costume dramas is that men dress so smartly. I'm very impressed. They look so dapper in their top hats, velvet jackets (I love those!), long Dandy coats, silky waistcoats or even tweeds. Matt Smith even makes bow ties look cute!

I watched An ideal husband the other week. Or part of it. I didn't think much of it because it was so boring! Even though I like Rupert Everett, I'm sure the play or book is much better than that. Has anyone seen that?

TheButlerDidIT-avatar
TheButlerDidIT 28 Aug 10 at 12:53 p.m. GMT

Well I'm not going to drool over actors that are supposedly 'hot'. There are many talented actors that I am a fan of. Tim Roth is a great British actor but is mostly seen in American tv shows nowadays.

I can't give judgement on how good looking actors are because I don't notice things like that  which girls and certain males normally do.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 28 Aug 10 at 9:26 a.m. GMT

Ooh McGinty! your making me blush! See why I have to tell you behave?! What would Miss Marple say?

Welcome Butler, although you made rather a grave error of judgement on McGinty's part, I think you must check his profile!

I saw Railway children about 10 yrs ago. I didn't realise JJ was in it. Ive never watched the Lockhart's because I hated the books. Shame since as there's Matt and JJ, or maybe that's too much to take in for me?!

My fave costume dramas are Bleak House, Pride and predudice and Cranford. Have you seen those? It doesn't have to have delectable men in it. Although it's nice when there is. P&P my fave version is the series, I have two men to admire there.

I fast forwarded bits of T&I. It's a beautifully tragic story. But the film didn't really work for me. The end is sad, I musn't say much else.  because I know the legend so well, I knew what would happen.

McGinty-avatar
McGinty 28 Aug 10 at 8:58 a.m. GMT

Butler - of course you can join in ! You won't be on your own

TheButlerDidIT-avatar
TheButlerDidIT 27 Aug 10 at 8:23 p.m. GMT

This this girls only or can I join in?

McGinty-avatar
McGinty 27 Aug 10 at 7:18 p.m. GMT

Oh there's a little bit left to the imagination in Milk - or hopefully a big bit ! LOL !

Yes, T+I was a tad tiring, in fact I don't think I ever got to the end of the film, probably fell asleep !

I've 'admired' Matt Smith since the Sally Lockhart films, I really wish they had made more, and JJ was in those too. I tend to enjoy costume dramas, especially if they are done well. The TV remake of the Railway Children was good, JJ again brightening up the screen.

What exactly do you mean by 'behave yourself' ??!! I couldn't possibly misbehave - it wouldn't be polite !

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 27 Aug 10 at 6:32 p.m. GMT

Oh, Ive not seen Milk. I can't watch it, I'd just faint. Honestly McGinty, you are wicked!  You'll be a bad influence on me, recommending such films  Seriously, I'm clearly a prude, but I wouldn't want to see that. Because.. I'm not sure. Nothing left to the imagination?

But you know that as Tristan he'd somehow got hold of some mediveal hair removal wax?! Because his chest was just SO smooth!!!! I didn't like the film much, I just felt that it was shallow. I didn't think that James was acting really well. I mean he looked sad at times, but not tragic enough. I would have preferred a more quieter, poetical film, that wasn't so Holywoodish. I like Rufus Sewell as well, he was in that. I fell for him in middlemarch!

Matt Smith. I love him. No he's not really handsome, but he has something about his character which I like. Alot.

JJ I love, but I refuse to watch any violent war films! I just like costume dramas. I don't know if you like those? As it seems you prefer the men without costumes!

Now, Behave yourself McGinty ;)

McGinty-avatar
McGinty 27 Aug 10 at 6:20 p.m. GMT

James Franco is worthy of a thread all of his own ! the Spiderman films, Flyboys, Tristan + Isolde, but best of all - Milk , the only way to go swimming in someone elses pool - no swimming costume !

Watched Centurion this last week but was disappointed with JJ's part in the film - he wasn't in it enough ! But it was worth it just to watch Michael Fassbender ( After the Funeral)

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 28 Jul 10 at 4:56 p.m. GMT

Ok this is the sexy actors list!!

Just saw a photo of Steve John Shepherd. Whoa!! so gorgeous!!

Oh and whose seen Tristan + Isode? I didn't like the film much, but James Franco was completley sexy.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 03 May 10 at 4:01 p.m. GMT

No, but should I? lol Well it's just Mr Wickham in P&P looks great to me and JF as Segt Troy in FFTMC. They both wear that red uniform. Um, I sound a little kooky now! I swear, I'm not.

I know JJ Feild has 3 brothers but they don't act. Do you suppose they all look a like?

Mmm, great if they did! That would solve us fighting over JJ! lol

I think Peter Firth is related, maybe their brother. I think he's a narrator. Ive never seen him.

I think you would love Far from the madding crowd, with J Firth. Very moving. Jonathan does this sword display which is amazing. Plus looks so dashing the soliders uniform! No I havent got a uniform thing, I hope..

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 03 May 10 at 3:24 p.m. GMT

I think Colin Firth has one other brother too, but I don't think he acts.

I know JJ Feild has 3 brothers but they don't act. Do you suppose they all look a like?

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 03 May 10 at 3:21 p.m. GMT

Actually I tend to watch mainly all AC and costume dramas which youv'e seen!

I looked up Oliver Milburn and he doesn't noramally look anything like he was in tess! boo! Um are there any sexy Firth brothers out there?!

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 03 May 10 at 3:12 p.m. GMT

I totally agree: a national AC day would be great!

What other actors do you like, MQ? You might mention some attractive English actors I have never heard of before.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 03 May 10 at 3:06 p.m. GMT

They do sometimes have AC day on ITV3 in September.

Tommy_A_Jones-avatar
Tommy_A_Jones 02 May 10 at 5:07 p.m. GMT

I would love to take part in a day like that but would also like a day of Agatha Christie on Television, with Documentaries, and Adaptations

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 01 May 10 at 5:25 p.m. GMT

I don't mean a Agatha Christie on TV day. Sorry my meaning wasn't clear. I meant a day with national events and celebrations. Like Burn's Night.

Tommy_A_Jones-avatar
Tommy_A_Jones 01 May 10 at 5:18 p.m. GMT
I agree, If we have to have whole afternoon's of Football or sport in General why not Agatha Christie.
MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 30 Apr 10 at 4:15 p.m. GMT

Ohh, I have to add this. I watched that film Ladies in Lavender with Judi Dench. lovely. But the man who plays Andera is so cute. On photos it doesnt do him justice, in motion he's adorable. I fell in love with his character. So sweet and cheeky

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377084/ has the trailer

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377084/ the actor, can't spell his name!

Seeing as ther'es a night devoted to Robert Burns, there should be Agatha Christie day, what do you guys think?

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 30 Apr 10 at 3:15 p.m. GMT

Bundle, I saw Murder of RA but I didn't fancy anyone in it. There is the thing where tou see old programmes and someone looks great, then you see them now and..well. I saw Tess of the D'urbyvilles (1998) fantastic, brilliant, brilliant acting. I fell in love ith Oliver Milburn? as Angel Clare, he had light coloured wavy hair. Just lovely, but Ive not seen him since then and he probably looks different now. He looked very young then, great actor. Broke my heart though, watching it.  I think you'd like him. I kind of cross between JJ feild and Jonthan Firth..

HH hang in there! No wait, don't! I mean, don't hang but wait for us to return!

HeiseiHolmes-avatar
HeiseiHolmes 29 Apr 10 at 5:42 p.m. GMT

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 5:33 p.m. GMT

Bye Bundle, I have to go too!

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 5:32 p.m. GMT

I love the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood painting, but they wanted to break away from convention. There was a programme last year called Desperate Romantics, but it was horrible. I couldn't bear watching it. They were made out to be.. how can I phrase this polietly?! Um libertines, repobates, generally very licestrous men. No, I had this romantic vision of them painting the Camelot knights because of admiring thier chivalrous attitude to ladies. :(

My dreams  shattered. I hope it was all made up, not true.

Ive seen Sir Joshua reynold's paintings in real life, amazing. I love going to art galleries and old houses, statley homes, courts, castles.

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 5:31 p.m. GMT

Well, I better log off now: homework to do. But it's been a lot of fun  chatting w/ you MQ and HH!

One last thing, if you can MQ, go to youtube or if you have it and have the time watch The Murder of Roger Ackroyd starring Suchet and look out for the guy who plays Inspector Davis: Gregor Truter, and  then tell me what you think of him.  Or of course you could find a picture of him online. But as Akroyd was made in 2000 I doubt he'll look the same way now so if you can just focus on how he looked when he made Ackroyd...you know, in case he's not too attractive now!

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 5:26 p.m. GMT

Yeah his paintings are nice. But I know that he and his brother and the whole Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood didn't conform or like Sir Joshua Reynolds. work...which is a shame because SJR is one of my favorite painters.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 5:20 p.m. GMT

Oh I love C Rossetti too remember me. Her brother Dante painted my favourite painting ever "Ophelia"I love it. It's so tragic, but to see such a scene set in such beautiful surroundings makes it something over than just a death related picture. Do you know it?

Yes, I find some R Browning poems really unsettling as P lover is one of them. But the one about the mad bad monk is good! I love Elizabeth browning's How much do I love thee?

It's odd how we talk about srious stuff then goes onto hot hunks, then we talk about hotties, then switch to poetry!

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 5:16 p.m. GMT

Yeah I've read Porphyria's Lover I thought it was really, really weird!  I think his poetry is a little too graphic for me. I read Lady Shallot a long time ago but I don't remember too much about it but that it was rather long. I do like Christina Rossetti, though, I find her poems very whimsical.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 5:10 p.m. GMT

Yeah, I saw a programme about William Blake, very unusual person. But seems quite nice, he just saw angels everwhere, oh and God as well! A genuis at everything he did. I don't know his poems as well.

Robert Browning's poems can be scary-Porphyria's lover. It's about a murder.  But it is very intense, is it done for love love, or hate or passion? read those?

Tennyson-i love the whole King Arthur poems. Lady of Shallot with her tragic fate. She just wanted to look out of her window at the the hunky Sir Lancelto and then...doom. i love those do you know them? except the mirror crack'd line of course!

 sigh

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 5:05 p.m. GMT

Speaking of poems I like Blake's poetry. My favorites are London and The Lilly.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 5:03 p.m. GMT

Odd being called Burns Night. Sorry over the mix up. Aud lang sye and red red rose is what I meant. Poetry is an attractive personality feature as is song writing.

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 5:01 p.m. GMT

Oh I understand now. I looked up Burns Night on wikipedia and Robert Burns came up. I saw a painting of him on there and saw that he looked like Dominic Coopper.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 5 p.m. GMT

Robert Burn's is quite well know in the UK, although his poetrys in old Scottish dialect, which I can't understand. But I love poetry. I'd love to see the one about keats called Bright Star. I know I'd cry buckets at the end. I just feel a connection to Keats. i cant remeber who plays him?

HeiseiHolmes-avatar
HeiseiHolmes 29 Apr 10 at 4:59 p.m. GMT

We meant the weird Scottish celebration of that poet Robert Burns... He's the guy who wrote that New Year's song with all the obscure words in it. I didn't know there was an actor with that name, actually...

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 4:57 p.m. GMT

I just looked up Burns Night; I had never heard of him before. But he looks a lot like actor Dominic Cooper.

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 4:53 p.m. GMT

Ive had my dream shattered! of Burns night and lovely romantic poetry quoted. Drinking and dancing. It was all just a false image? I have Scottish ancestry, so I'm let down.

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 4:53 p.m. GMT

Oh yeah I love tweed on tall men! JJ should buy a tweed suit!

I actually have The Mysterious Mr. Quin but I haven't read it yet. I think I remember you saying that Robert Pattinson could play him...

Also, I watched Roger Ackryod a few days ago and notcied the guy who plays Inspector Davis....he's really cute too...if you see a clip of him notice his ears: I like guys w/ big ears I guess. LOL

HeiseiHolmes-avatar
HeiseiHolmes 29 Apr 10 at 4:51 p.m. GMT

I had such a romantic vison of Burn Night, but HH tells me it's not that way at all!

Maybe people take it more seriously in different places, especially "up north"... That's where everyone takes Scottish stuff really seriously, I think. In fact, I think there are islands where they don't even broadcast TV on a Sunday! How odd!!

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 4:44 p.m. GMT

I had such a romantic vison of Burn Night, but HH tells me it's not that way at all! I've heard red red rose spoken in in a sexy Scottish accent, I was like "wow"...

I don't remember third floor flat. I liked Nataniel parker dressed as Pierrot in The Affair  At The Victory Ball, not many men call pull off looking great in a Pireot costume!

I would love a remake of Mr Quin, he's described as tall, muscular, dark, handsome face with sad smile. Lovely. Have you read Mr Q Bundle?

Ive also noticed that tweeds look great on some men-Jonathan Firth, Matt Smith. They should come back into fashion!

I'm from Scotland. It's like England, but colder, rainier, more golf, more men in skirts, and less to do, I think~♪ Also our national music is really hopeless. I mean, the bagpipes are just terrible...

Oooh! Scotland! I love you all's accents!

Bundle_-avatar
Bundle_ 29 Apr 10 at 4:38 p.m. GMT

I usually like guys w/ dark hair and eyes too. I guess TH is an exception for me. But I love guys who are tall!

BTW speaking of more guys have you ever seen The Third Floor Flat? S*POILERS* S*POILERS*The guy who played the murderer was really cute!

MissQuin-avatar
MissQuin 29 Apr 10 at 4:35 p.m. GMT

I didn't like Tom Hiddleston much. His character was ok, just didn't fancy him. I tend to like dark hair and eyes. Or dark hair and light eyes. I didn't think that Return to Cranford was any where near as good as the  orginal. Maybe because Ive read the books, I felt that they'd strayed to far from the polts.

I'm obviously odd with my unusual crushes! I mean everyone talks about Mr Darcy, but my heart belongs to Mr wickham! It could be the uniform...

Cool. She sounds awesome.

btw are you English, HeiseiHolmes?

Bundle_-avatar

So we disagree on Paolo and James Blunt. But that's great he qoutes poetry in his songs, I love Endless Night the poem and the book!

I don't think I've ever had a crush on someone unusual,  I  think.

Oh! And speaking of Return to Cranford did you see Tom Hiddleston?! He is so CUTE! He looks like JJ too.

Yeah I know Paolo Nutini. Although Ive not fancied him. I had one on James Blunt, you know the viseo when he takes his clothes off and jumps into the ocean? He quotes poetry in his songs and sings "I though I was born to Endless Night" gives me shivers. I posted some nice photo links under the other topic, but Detective conan objected! (nicely)

Have you ever had a crush on someone famous, but unusual? i had one of morrissey, I still love his music, but it was odd as i fancied how he looked in the 1980's.
