wikipedia to conservapedia

Has anyone checked out the difference between the two webites? I was shocked when I looked them up. Conservapedia sets itself up to be "the place for homeschooling" The Agatha Christie page on Conservapedia is pitiful. What got to me is that site doesn't even have entries on Dorothy Sayers or Ellery Queen! I don't EVEN want to hear about politics, what I do want to know is, if one IS homeschooling, what ARE some good sites for an overview of the "golden age" of detection? This is a good site for Dame Agatha, but are there any good sites for ALL (or even most) of them? Not only Ellery and Dorothy, BUT Chesterson, Chandler (yuck) et.al. What about even going back to the platinum age, Dickens and Poe and (the lord master) Conan-Doyle?

Ahh... I should have known. My friend is in to all that nonsense, and it can be quite unbearable having a conversation with him. All these weird words I never knew existed...

"Teh lulz" is the internet slang for "funny stuff". Unintentionally funny, in Conservapedia's case.

I didn't know that as I'm not on Facebook. Perhaps it's time I registered. I'm beginning to think I might be the last person alive NOT to be on there!! Oh, no, I forgot - neither is my Dad. So I'm not alone!

You would also need something to offer people wouldn't you? you could alwasys join groups on places like Facebook, it has an Agatha Christie Group and a Lord Peter Wimsey group.

You probably could, but a forum requires several active members to be at all effective. I'm rather proud to say that it was somewhat due to my posts that the Carr Yahoo group was revived (with September being the group's most active month ever).

Can't you create groups on Yahoo? It would be nice to have one specifically dedicated to mystery authors w/ the main focus on Dorthohy L Sayers, Carr, etc.

I've never found one either. There is a society that you can join, I believe, Ampman. Have you tried googling it?

I'm glad you enjoyed The Hollow Man, ampman! (Carr wrote under the pseudonym of Carter Dickson as well, by the way.) I searched for an active Sayers forum well over a year ago, and couldn't find one, I'm afraid...

I found out about John Dickson Carr from this forum, befoe that I had never heard of him. I ordered The Hollow man from the library after a lot of effort ( They listed him under Dickson not Carr) and thoroughly enjoyed it. He really deserves a forum. Has Dorothy L Sayers got one?

You'll find plenty of pages devoted to Conan Doyle online. But (sadly) other names have relatively few sites devoted to them. The best online forum, for instance, for John Dickson Carr is on a Yahoo group which recently went through a revival.
