The Mystery Man is back! And more devious than ever...
The Mystery Man (who could also be a woman, it's a mystery after all) has kidnapped eight characters from the stories of Agatha Christie. Trouble is, we don't know who he's kidnapped!
In an email to the official Christie Community, the Mystery Man has revealed that beginning Thursday, July 7th 2011, he will allow one character per week the chance to speak.
And this is the place to put your theories and ideas to the Christie community, or just to browse to catch-up on all the latest events should you not want to use Twitter to follow the game.

I found it!
Yes found him/her. The biggest help is for me was the third clue. This is becoming interesting.
Auburn hair-- Hastings usually falls in love with women with auburn hair! Could it be his "first love"-- in Christie's first novel?
Yet another case of remembering the first and not last name!
Ugh, I can't believe it took me so long to get Vicitm 3! And I just saw the Victim 4 clue on the facebook page and I already solved it, but there's not a discussion yet here on the forum! Silly that I solved victim 4 before victim 3, but the clue was pretty easy.
Quite easy, really, with all of the above clues.
I will be interested to see what we have to do once we have freed all the victims. I mean, obviously we will have to catch the diabolical Mystery Man, but the question is - how????
Fourth and final clue for Victim 3!
Victim 3 - Great that Arthur met his old friend Poirot again. #agathachristiegame http://goo.gl/wdAS0
This should narrow down the possible books a lot. Combined with clue 3, the options narrow down a lot more.
Just luck with Victim 3, I didn't read this book. But "Emily" helped.
well, to be honest the first clue, the one about the auburn hair, helped me the most here..
AgathasmykidI don't think you said too much, Syanne; thanks to you and Agathasmykid for your first-rate hints. The choice of victim seems topical for British readers — coincidence? or brilliant masterminding by our hosts? Either way, this is great fun!Nice job socks...I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that...sometimes this game can be such a mysterious affair.
Touché, Amk!

Found it! And, having watched the Sound of Music last night, it was doubly helpful that I had the beginning of "Do, Re, Mi" running through my head ;)
OMG that is the BEST clue. I love you and I hate you. It could go in so many directions. I feel kinda stupid not getting after I figured out the person. I say Oh bravo, bravo to you starryskies
Victim 3 - So sad for Poor Emily. http://goo.gl/wdAS0
This narrows it down to just a few books...
Never mind. I figured it out. This happened to be from another book I read. Hopefully the next one isn't too difficult.
SyanneWow, I knew right away from which novel this character is, but had trouble remembering which one it is. All I can say to help you guys is: go right at the beginning. :)
And I hope I didn't tell too much. :)
By this, do you mean that the character is in the beginning of a particular book?
got it... now just missing victim 1!

I am at sea about the conclussion of the game as well, Jenpix. I thought that maybe once we know who all the victims are, we will see something or someone they all have in common and that may lead to the Mystery Man, but this is just an idea.
Starryskies hit it on the head with the "Do re mi" clue!!!
What a lot of red heads in Agatha Christie's books- I think i went through all of them, wish i had been a bit more logical:) finally got it.
GOT IT
I've discovered the 3rd victim's identity. it was the 2nd clue that helped me most

I have just freed the third victim. Good luck to everybody

i'm afraid i have no idea who the victim can be. i think i'll have to wait for the next clues
I found it, thanks for the help! I just had to start from the beginning...
I found the 3rd victim!!!
I have already found victim 4 (accidentally) so I'll have to wait for the fifth victim...Good luck to those still searching

found the 3rd victim, had 2 books in mind and it was the 2nd book that gave me the answer but has no idea who the mystery man is
I got it! Finally!!
jenpixHi lovely crime solvers. I am puzzled by one thing. Having found and released these poor victims how does this get us closer to identifying the Mystery Man (or woman? I have not been given any secret clues. Or is releasing the distressed kidnappees reward enough?

Finally, I found a victim from just the first clue! I'm having so much fun with this game. Thank you to all who put hard work into it and all who play.
yay!! found the 3rd victim with the first clue! Took a little bit of thinking though!
Wow, and a few moments later I find victim #3! The old saying is true, if you are getting frustrated, and things don't make sense, start at the beginning and try again.........
I thought the answer was really obvious...lol however I did not guess correctly....I will keep hunting.
Too many characters with auburn hair and I cannot seem to remember names right now! Me thinks will sleep on it :oD
little_gray_cellsi got so excited when i saw this clue, a penchant for auburn hair is synonymous with one christie character who we all know... but this was not the answer!!!! :o lost. very very stuck :(
Keep in mind, the quote is being spoken by the person with the auburn hair, not the one doing the admiring -- hope that helps!

yes, someone likes one too many auburn hair characters :)
Found victim #3 with First clue. That's a First! Can not wait till victim #4
well, honestly I had that victim before I had the clue.....
I found it! The first time I solved it using only the first clue!
Found it! Not at my first guess though. I guess someone likes many auburn hairs.
MIGHT IT BE POSSIBLE THAT THE VICTIM IS A CHARACTER SEEN IN A SHORT STORY??????
AND SO DID I christie_greece. I THINK I WILL ALSO HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT CLUES. I'M ALSO GREEK YOU KNOW. ONLY 14 BOOKS REMAIN TO COMPLETE MY AGATHA CHRISTIE COLLECTION. I LOOKED BACK INTO MY BOOKS BUT I WAS TOTALLY SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT NO ONE OF MY SUSPICIONS CONCERNING THE IDENTITY OF THE THIRD VICTIM WAS CORRECT
. I WILL FEEL REALLY UNLUCKY IF THE THIRD VICTIM IS A CHARACTER IN THESE LAST BOOKS I DON'T OWN.
I THINK, I SHOULD SIT IN MY ARMCHAIR AND USE MY LITTLE GREY CELLS
.
I thought that the "auburn hair" would help me but so far I am very confused. I hope that I am on the right direction. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next clues :)
Got it! And thank you for numbering the victims and disabling the future ones
Woot! The first time I found the victim based on the first clue! Guess it really helps that I like most, if not all, of the novels that "someone" appear in :]
Thanks for adding the victim number and disabling the "future" victims :D
Got it!!!!
it was easy to guess.......
good luck to everybody!!!!!
The fourth guess was the lucky one for me!
Victim 3 - Someone likes my auburn hair. #agathachristiegame http://goo.gl/wdAS0
Hmmm... the "someone" in question seems to be referencing one character. I wonder if that's right...
Got it! Third guess was the charm....
Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear.
When the wealthy patriarch, Aristide, is murdered, suspicion falls on the whole household. ...
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help ...

Whatever you do, do not name the character in the forum, it will ruin the game for other players! Though feel free to help others along, just don't make it too easy for them. Anyone guilty of making it too easy will find themselves bumped off! (and banned from entering the competition).
All four messages from Victim 3 have now been released, they were:
"Someone likes my auburn hair’"
"I do like mixing things"
"So sad for Poor Emily"
"Great that Arthur met his old friend Poirot again"
