The Mystery Man is back! And more devious than ever...
The Mystery Man (who could also be a woman, it's a mystery after all) has kidnapped eight characters from the stories of Agatha Christie. Trouble is, we don't know who he's kidnapped!
In an email to the official Christie Community, the Mystery Man has revealed that beginning Thursday, July 7th 2011, he will allow one character per week the chance to speak.
And this is the place to put your theories and ideas to the Christie community, or just to browse to catch-up on all the latest events should you not want to use Twitter to follow the game.

mamacarinaInspectorGrantMe neither, Marplefan - it will be interesting to see what we have to do to find out his or her identity.
Did you play last year? Or anyone else out there? This is my first time playing, and I was just curious what they did to help you get to the last stages of the game once you had all the clues.
Last year the game was totally different. We were given clues that led us to various books. Then we were visiting the pages of these books and there was a link there. By clicking on this link we could see a characteristic of the murderer. When we had all the characteristics it was clear (to those who have read that book) who the murderer was.
But this year, the game is more difficult. We have to figure out how these characters are connected. I have found a connection between them but can't be sure since I haven't read all the books. I also tried anagram, but no luck there. I hope that when all eight victims are released, we will be given a hint. Until then our grey cells will have to work hard
i'm also waiting for the eighth victim, i've made an excell spreadsheet with the info i've got so far...
can you believe it?
InspectorGrantHello christie_greece,
Quite a few of the old gang are back from last year which is very pleasing to see.
So far I have actually found it easier than last year - some of last year's clues were very obscure (thinking of the sheep's skull which had us all going around in circles until we finally worked out that it simply meant 'dead'), but I am hoping that after the 8th victim we will be given a hint or clue or something - anything! - which will lead us to the identity of the Mystery Figure. Anyway, two more to go - perhaps there will be some light cast onto his/her identity - hope so, anyway!
As usual, though, it is playing the game which is the most fun.
I also fund the last year's game much more challanging, but i know i'll miss this one when it will be over... which is rather sooner than i wish for.
Oh my!! Finally got it. The third and foruth clue were the biggest help, especially the fourth one. The 7th one is too much!!!
What a relief!!!!! I finally got #6!!
Got it yesterday- I havent read this one for years, working on it now, at work on my phone- headache here we come!
I DIDN'T TAKE PART IN THE GAME LAST YEAR, BUT FROM DESCRIPTIONS I HAVE HEARD, THIS YEAR'S GAME LOOKS EASIER. HOWEVER I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE IDENTITIES OF THE 8 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS ARE SUPPOSED TO LEAD AS TO THE MYSTERY MAN. I HAVE READ MOST OF AGATHA CHRISTIE'S NOVELS, BUT I'M SURE THAT THE ONLY THING THAT CONNECTS A WRITER, A SOLDIER, A WOMAN WITH AUBURN HAIR, A WOMAN WHO "SHOT PHILIP", A GERMAN ENDOCRINOLOGIST AND THE MOST CELEBRATED KC IN ENGLAND IS THE FACT THAT THEY DO HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON. WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ASK SORRY IF MY ENGLISH IS A BIT "UNTIDY"

Staryskies, THANK YOU for telling us to keep our eyes PEELED... :)

got it!! I always liked this book :0) Thanks to all for the great hints!
found it, i had to wait until i was home as been away from home and i knew it was from a certain book, read it years ago as well
Me neither, Marplefan - it will be interesting to see what we have to do to find out his or her identity.
Got there in the end :) Still don't know who the mystery man (woman) is themselves though
The latest clue:
Victim 6 - You can call me Mr Brown. #agathachristiegame http://t.co/IG8q5jm
You're welcome!
GKCfanFor people unfamiliar with the British legal system, a KC is a King's Counsel- an honor bestowed upon distinguished barristers (trial lawyers). KC's get to wear black silk gowns and sit in a more prominent position in court. They're only called KC's when a male sovereign is on the throne: currently they're called QC's, or Queen's Counsel. There's a hint right there: the book in question must have been published before Queen Elizabeth II took the throne in in 1953.
Even though I already found the victim, thanks for posting GKCfan, that was very kind of your to explain....and very helpful!

Thanks to oceanianow for the final part. I can't believe I have been using this character's middle name and discarded the book particularly when my favourite actress (F.A.) played the lead character in the UK TV adaptations.
Third clue:
Victim 6 - I was the most celebrated KC in England. #agathachristiegame http://t.co/IG8q5jm
Got it! Thanks for the hints, guys! The evil brown bear is a good hint, and so is a certain bold typed verb I found among the earlier posts...
Okay, still in the dark. I'm guessing I haven't read this book as none of these clues are giving me hints. Are there any clues as to which book it's from, as opposed to the specific character?
Nevermind, I just got it! Thanks to laughingbrunette's clues (and google, hehe). Turns out I had read this book...just not for a few good years :)
The victims get harder and harder as the game progresses! But, I am determined; I desparately want to win the books!
Just to repeat, the second clue is:
Victim 6 - I could have been a future British Prime Minister. http://t.co/IG8q5jm
Funny how Things can Be interpreted :)
Since I was in a hurry As I wrote about my Little succsess I didn't leave a clue myself... But now I have a Little Time (but no longer patience since I'm writing this the third time because my damn Computer shuts always down )
the most Things are already Said but I can also give that our Person is Not really a politician. This was the direction misleading me After Reading the 2nd Clue. He/She is... Well you will hopefully See it yourself.
Regards
nikolasOh, dear, I am so sorry Agathasmykid! I can't stop laughing because both the bear and judicious appeared relevant in the wrong context!
I was rather referring to an evil brown bear (or, should I say, The Bear) that would like to see my nice free-market investments crash... And hint that one should be very judicious, or sage, or wise, in order to deal with it...
I hope my misdirection did not bring you all to the edge...
No worries Nikolas! Your clue were great, however in this case this lead me completely in another direction....for example I thought judicious referred to Mr. Wargrave!
Thanks for all of your help!

Finally, lol, you can probably all hearing me breathing a sign of relief. Nikolas, your clues were the ones that sent me in a specific direction...and no, I am not blaming at all, rather, judicious, bear, crash, secret identity all lead me to a certain book. However I stopped playing this game for a bit just to clear my head, reread all the clues and finally found it. Thanks everyone!
I always try to leave a clue or helpful hint as well, however if you read other people's posts there is enough information shared there. That being said, I hope it's okay to say it is not Blore form And Then There Were None. He was murdered by a "crashing" bear and also tried to conceal his identity. Lol, people can see what direction I was going.
Thanks everyone for all of your help :)
Got it finally
Got it!
Finally got Victim #6! How silly of me not to realize it sooner. There are so many people out there who have the same name and similar facial features. I suppose if I had an alias it would be a simple common name.
Got it at last. Thank's everybody for your hints.
Sounds like some are still in a brown study over this one, but I think you'll find the clues from starryskies and laughinbrunette quite illuminating once you examine them again...
I found it!!!!
Thanks a lot starryskies
Now I've got it, too! Finally! Mainly it was the help of my Best friend that helped me Figuring it out!
Got it! This character is one that I found to be quite apeeling...I like the crazy genious type.
I can't still find him/her.
Yes! Found him/her. I havn't read the novel, so I will have to read it now
I AM REALLY STUCK IN THIS ONE
. I KNOW THAT WE ARE SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE WHO IS PRETENDING BEING CRAZY BUT IN REALLITY HE OR SHE IS REALLY INTELLIGENT. SOMEONE WHO HIDES A PIECE OF HIS-HER IDENTITY OR LIFE IN THE PAST. SOMEONE WHO COULD HAVE BEEN THE FUTURE PRIME MINISTER OF ENGLAND. SOMEONE WHO IS UBIQUITOUS AND A DIABOLICAL MASTERMIND, WHOM, NEVERTHELESS, EVERYBODY TRUSTS AND FINALLY SOMEONE WHO IS A MAIN CHARACTER IN A FAMOUS NON-SERIES CHRISTIE NOVEL. I CAN'T STOP THINKINK BUT MY LITTLE GREY CELLS DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE FOUND HIS-HER IDENTITY
. I AM CONVINCED THAT THE ANSWER TO THIS PUZZLE IS IN FRONT OF MY EYES, BUT THE FACT THAT I CAN'T SEE IT, DRIVES ME CRAZY
. I BELIEVE THAT I'LL HAVE TO WAIT FOR NEXT CLUES TO COME EXCEPT IF SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME ANOTHER CLUE
.
Mr_westI can't find that charcter, all the clues pointed out on him/her but I just can't find him/her!
He/she is ubiquitous! And yet no-one notices him/her because of the trust in which this victim is held. A diabolical mastermind ....
I can't find that charcter, all the clues pointed out on him/her but I just can't find him/her!
Oh finally!!! I was on the edge looking for it
!! Thank you for the clues, mostly to Nikolas and starryskies!. Another book I haven't read. Now I must read it!
Ohh, wait a minute. now I see Syanne's comment
SyanneThat was easy. :) One clue (if moderator thinks it's too much, then please delete it): it is not a Poirot book.
and now I understand why I can't fond that character.
so there is another character who fits to those clues but is not in a Poirot book..
Got it at last!!! Like Mr_West I knew for ages but had trouble entering the name, all I can say is try using the last name only for success.
I know who the victom is, but from some reason I can't found it! I'm writing the name of the character but nothing happened
And here it is, the second clue: I could have been a future British Prime Minister.
Amazing, I have absolutely no idea who it is, and for others it is very easy
.
I think this one is much easier than Victim 5, both in book popularity and the prevalence of the character. Just remember to keep your eyes peeled.
Can't wait for another clue! Is it supposed to be revealed today?
I just got Victim #6! Luckily I happened to be currently reading the novel that the character was in!
Nik, Pat, everyone else who has given clues.....great clues however they point me directly to a novel that has already been used once in this game so that is making me skeptical that I am looking in the right place.....still searching though I will let you know if I get it.
Pat_septemberand it is crashing all over the world..
Yes, how unfortunate! When prices go up you can invest in anything, you have to be very judicious, however, when dealing with the bears...
nikolasWell, this one is pretty neat. No additional clues will be necessary.
In the meantime, you 'd better watch the stock exchange. After last week's crash, we might be entering a bear market...
and it is crashing all over the world..
InspectorGrantFound No. 6 and am kicking myself because this character was the first one I looked up but I forgot he/she had another name, and I only checked his/her alias
.
Thanks very much for your help Mamacarina, Syanne, Kindov, Pat_September and GKCFan!
And your past comments helped us!
Still searching. I have though of several characters however, none were correct. Thanks for the additional clues everyone.

I really enjoyed this book & this character until I realized...shhhh, it's a secret...
Still searching too - exhausted all my options - bring on the next clue!
I am still searching...thanks for the hints everyone, much appreciated. InspectorGrant, I may have to go back and try reentering some of the names like you did.
And/or another twitter clue may help too :)

.
Thanks very much for your help Mamacarina, Syanne, Kindov, Pat_September and GKCFan!
Now I'm a little afraid to find the victim, because most of Christie's insane characters are the murderer (and it's even more probably if that victim is also hidding part of his history). I just hope it won't ruin me that particular book
SyanneThat was easy. :) One clue (if moderator thinks it's too much, then please delete it): it is not a Poirot book.
I can't say it's been an easy search for me as I have not read this particular story, but Syanne is right with regards to this specific novel not being a Poirot one. Search elsewhere... and it is not one of the short stories either... Good luck!
Victim 6 has been found now :) This one was much easier than the previous one - because it is about a main character in the book, I guess. The "hidden identity" clue from mamacarina was helpful - Thanks! :)
That was easy. :) One clue (if moderator thinks it's too much, then please delete it): it is not a Poirot book.
This rings me a bell but I have no idea...But it surely looks easier than the prenious one..
mamacarinaThis one came quickly for me as well, although I disagree that it is from one of the most read stories. Just that if you have read the book, it is a very memorable character. It may help to consider characters who are concealing some aspect of their history or identity. Then again, that probably applies to characters in just about every one of her novels, doesn't it? Sorry!
That's all right, mamacarina - any scraps of information are most welcome indeed! I am totally lost on this one...

Got this one in two guesses. I had been looking through this book on Victim 5, so it came quickly. Thank goodness - I went to the final clue (although I did miss one clue, which may have helped) on Victim 5!!! Sooner than later!
I am still searching to. The few I thought of didn't work.
Well, many people found it quickly, so I guess it is from one of the most read stories. Ah, but which one ?! Nothing comes to mind at the moment.
Oh, gosh, I forgot it is Thu so a NEW character will be allowed to speak!!
I can think of a lot of Christie characters who are a bit dotty, and who think they are intelligent, but not one who really is intelligent, they're just cocky. That's the problem. Will have to go away and think some more..
First character I suspected as well. The clue does apply to myriads characters, though. You have to be both extremely intelligent and insane to go up against a Christie crimesolver...
Once I got started I could think of loads of people it could possibly be. It wasn't any of them!! I guess I'll have to wait patiently for the next clue unless anyone who's got it can give us a little pointer?
Just like you Miss Mystery!
I thought I knew about 4 or 5 who could fit that Explanation but I was wrong... Well I think I have to wait for the Next clue, too.
hmm i think i wait for the 2nd clue, had 4 characters in mind and none of them were right,
Well, how many of Christie's characters behave in an insane manner or have been diagnosed as having a mental illness? Of these characters, how many of them demonstrate extreme intelligence?
WHEN I READ THE 6th VICTIM'S WORDS I WAS CONVINCED THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE VERY EASY. HOWEVER I AM REALLY STUCK IN THIS ONE. CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME A CLUE?
Hmmm.. I thought I had the right answer but I was wrong..
Time to start thinking... hmm..
I got Victim 6 too! I am so excited, it was just dumb luck that I had read this book not that long ago. I really had to work to figure out Victim 5.
Here we go folks, victim 6 has started to speak!

Whatever you do, do not name the character in the forum, it will ruin the game for other players! Though feel free to help others along, just don't make it too easy for them. Anyone guilty of making it too easy will find themselves bumped off! (and banned from entering the competition).
All four messages from Victim 6 have now been released, they were:
"They said I was either a genius or insane"
"I could have been a future British Prime Minister"
"I was the most celebrated KC in England"
"You can call me Mr Brown"
