Something has just occurred to me, It shouldn't be embarrassing for the Producers, Directors to answer questions after all they chose to make whichever changes have been made so they should stand by there Dessissions.
I agree, with both your theories about the Marple Adaptations and I too would be interested in the process, I nearly wrote asking why they had put Miss Marple in Adaptatins she shouldn't be in and then realised they probably don't care about our opinions (I get this impression because they haven't stopped having her in Adaptations she shouldn't be in and also I realise tha Miss Marple is a known Character so sadly putting her in other Adaptations make Commercial sense, I am also very interested in why somethings in the books don't work on screen and how they decide which bits to take out and which characters to leave out, I agree it is worth asking the question but just not hopeful of a reply let a lone a satrisfactory one but then what is a satisfactory answer to one personm isn't to another At least their Grammer would be quite good which would please Lone Wolf.
I don't think it would necessarily have to be an unpleasant experience for them, especially if the questions were emailed to them in advance, and certain ones selected by the website's moderators.
And I wouldn't want it to be purely an opportunity for the show's critics to bash the creative team. I'd genuinely be interested in the whole process of what goes in to adapting a novel for the screen. Who has input, and whether there are different approaches to Poirot and Marple. For instance, Marple seems to have greater leeway in some ways, and is this because the BBC Joan Hickson series has cast a long shadow, and so all of the original Marple novels have already been filmed faithfully. Whereas the majority of the remaining Poirots have not been adapted before.
Worthwhile asking the question at least to see if the powers that be might be interested...
I think it is highly unlikely the Writers, Directors etc would put themselves through it, Surely someone must have notified them about how annoyed people are by certain changes so they have had lots of Opportunities to defend themselves and haven't so I can't see the wanting to answer questions where they might be asked questions they haven't got good answers for but I agree Katherine it IS a brilliant idea just not practical for the reason I have offered.
Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear.
When the wealthy patriarch, Aristide, is murdered, suspicion falls on the whole household. ...
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help ...

I wondered if the website/moderators had considered approaching any of the Poirot/Marple writers/producers/directors/stars to do an interview for the site?
If they were to agree, maybe fans could write in with their questions. There has been some controversy in the past regarding how much liberty an adaptation should take, and I'm sure many of us would be fascinated to hear what motivates the decisions to make certain changes to Christie's original work, along with any insights the creators could share. Do you think this is something that might be possible?
