Whats everyone first AC book they read? I read a collection of short stories of Poirot and Marple. I liked them so I then read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. I loved it and I was hooked! My first Marple was Body in the Library, another excellent book.

Oh, gosh, now you are going back a bit!!! I'm not absolutely sure which was the  first AC book I read but I think it may have been The Secret Adversary. It was in the '80's (that dates me!) and I had seen the ITV series featuring Tommy and Tuppence and I think I was spurred on the go and buy something that featured them. I also seem to remember I bought The Seven Dials Mystery very soon after. I still love both books.

My first Poirot was The ABC Murders and I bought it to take on holiday (I still remember sitting in my hotel room in Cornwall COMPLETELY gripped by it) and my first Marple was Murder At The Vicarage. I then just bought every title I could lay my hands on.

My first AC book was Cards on the Table. My Mom actually picked it out for me. She has read all of the books she's ever written and said that Cards on the Table was a good start for me to begin reading Agatha's work. Then my next book was Halloween Party, then it was A Pocketful of Rye, and then The Murder of Roger Ackryod and Why Didn't They Ask Evans?. I used to keep a list of the order in which I read her books but I lost it....It still bothers me a bit to think that I misplaced it.

I can't remember the exact short story that I read, which bothers me. I think it was Poirot Tragedy At Marsden Manor, but wish that I had wrote it down!

The first book I read was the short story; Witness For The Prosecution. The first Marple was Murder At The Vicarage. The first Poirot was The Big Four.

The ABC Murders, I think.

My first book was one of AC's last:  By the Prickling of my Thumbs.  I just couldn't put it down and so, I was hooked.

My first Miss Marple was "The Body in the Library", and my first non-series book was "And Then There Were None", handed to me by a Mysterious Stranger Lady (a phrase that must always have capitals) in a bookshop, with only the mysterious phrase "If you're looking for Agatha Christie... This is the best one." Looking back, I guess that phrase isn't so mysterious, but at the time I was pretty mystified.

I just registered.  First book was ATTWN when I was 17 years old.  I had an important date that Friday night(aren't they all important when a teen?) but had to have a wisdom tooth removed earlier that day.  My mother forbade me to go out and casually said "here, you might enjoy this book" and handed me a yellow paperback while I lounged upon my bed pouting.  THAT was the start of a lifelong reading habit for which  I will forever be grateful.  Having read all books, plays and stories (more than once, of course) I have just ordered THE NOTEBOOKS OF AGATHA CHRISTIE and am very excited.  In the future, I will check occasionally back here to catch up on any news or interesting tidbits.
