I don't Know if that post is right here, but I didn't know where else to put it.

There's a question which makes me wondering a lot: Who is Mrs Olivers husband?? As you know she is a Mrs and so she must be married. In Elephants can remember is also written that she got married. But who is Mr Oliver and where is he know??? Does anyone know a bit more than me?

of course you can also discuss here everything else what's got to do with Ariadne Oliver! Kind Regards Laura

Maybe - Ariadne Oliver being a caricature of Agatha Christie herself - found an equally inappropriately younger husband like Christie's second one, who might have been an archaeologist as well to fancy her better. That seems a sound reason  for him not being present, since his nursery would have been located away from the relic's room.

Cheers!

In Elephants Can Remember (Chapter 7: Back to the Nursery) Mrs Oliver's nanny (and one of the elephants), Mrs Matcham, said:

"...Got a husband now?  Oh now, I remember, he's dead years ago, isn't he?..."

So yeah.

I always assumed she was a Widow but thinking about it as Ariadne is a Characature of her and due to her opinions in Cards On The Table he probably left her for another woman, in Cards On The Table doesn't she comment on how life would be if Women ran the Country? Ariadne is Agatha Agatha's first husband lefter so Ariadne must be Divorced with an Ex-Husband still living, she probably put him in one of her Books, but he won't be Sven.

Thank you! Mr west that is an interesting deliberation.

GKCfan I was looking for a thread but I didn't find something so I started a new one. Maybe I wasn't searching enough.... But that's a pity I hoped to find something concrete because I think it would be interesting....

I asked this question a while ago- all we have is pure speculation.

To my knowledge, we don't know anything about Mr Oliver. I think that because Mrs. Oliver is actually a self-caricature of AC, maybe AC thought is best to had no husband at all. Or perheps Mrs Oliver's husband left her for another woman like Archie did (that may expline her strong feminist ideas).
