I would very much like to hear people's opinions on the book. We all agree it isn't a typical Christie book. When I first read it, I didn't like it at all. I found it disappointing.

But after some days, I couldn't but keep thinking about this book. I thought about the messages it's trying to convey, the fat rich lady, the young Siegfried, the birth certificate, etc etc. Now I've really begun to like this book, and I think I will like it even more if I re-read it in 3-4 years time, when I will be certainly more mature to appreciate it more.

I read Passenger To Frankfurt and by the end of it I had no idea what it was about.

I Know that for a Long Time noone wrote in this thread but I'm Interested in passenger to Frankfurt. You See in my First English Harper Collins Christie novel ( which was BTW Cards on the Table) was a List of her Books. There I Found PTF listed but I didn't Know what the german Version was... I started to Look for it on the Internet but I didn't find anything! Later I Found out, that it was the only AC Book which isn't available in German, appearently because of the Thematic though I'm Not sure about this Thematic at all... I'm so curious because its passenger to "Frankfurt" and it Might Be the only AC novel which Takes Place in Germany, Not far from where I live. What I wanted to ask ( longwinded) it isn't worth Reading, is it? All These  comments Look very negativ...

Regards :)

It's the only Christie book I never managed to finish - and I even struggled through "Postern of Fate"...

I must say I found Stafford Nye quite an unconvincing and unsympathetic 'lead' character (and if his diplomatic career had been so disappointing, as we were told many times, what was his knighthood for?); also I could never quite work out whether Renata or Mary Jane, whatever her name was, was on 'our' side or 'theirs.' The ending seemed particularly unrealistic considering Nye knew hardly anything about her.

I stuck with it, but not a book I enjoyed I'm afraid.

In many ways, this is one of Christie's worst books. In other ways, this is one of her most interesting books. Stylistically, it's a mess. Thematically, it's fascinating. I look at is as an elderly woman's attempts to organize her concerns and fears about the future into a surrealistic narrative. I do recommend reading this book, but don't expect any of the traditional hallmarks of a Christie whodunit. I suggest that you read it in tandem with the closing chapters of Christie's Autobiography, where you can see more of her concerns about the state of the world. Some of the themes about her fears over the state of the world are used to better effect in novels like "At Bertram's Hotel" and "Nemesis."

I haven't read the book but have heard many negative reviews. Should I read it?
