This book is one of my personal favorites. I highly rate this 10/10. I enjoyed this novel. It was exciting, tense, creepy, and different. This is a unique murder mystery focusing more on administrating justice in a unorthodox way and how secrets can be revealed in a shocking way. Also the effect of guilt on the ten characters. The characters were interesting in their own ways even though they were all unlikable. This novel I thought was very creative for a writer like Christie to do during the 1930s. You would think this was a contemporary thriller today. But that is was fascinates me about this novel the fact that a maniac killer invites certain guilty persons to be punished for their past crimes. I was shocked when Vera shot Lombard and then she hanged herself. The epilogue was at first a bit confusing but it was interesting. When it came to the Judge's confession it was frightening, disturbing, twisted and shows how a human being's mental break-up can be distorted from what is good and evil what is right and wrong and more importantly to take the law into their own hands and take a sadistic pleasure in committing murder
I forgot to mention that my favorite characters are Anthony Marston and the General
"What! Lone_Wolf, you are a Troper too? One of us, much?"
I do periodically spend some time on TvTropes, yeah.
This is an outstanding psychological thriller, and it just gets more intense and terrifying as it goes on! The characters are all realistic and convincing, and just when you think you've solved it this time, someone else bites the dust, and only the dead are above suspicion... The solution provides an admirable twist ending.
10/10. One of Christie's masterpieces, and it merits a score through sheer originality and brilliance of execution.

I agree that sometimes our favourite characters might have been rather vile. I liked the culprit in Hallowe'en Party, even though ey was quite vile.
9/10. One point taken for the murderer's plan sometimes stepping to the realm of Xanatos Roulette.
And it's perfectly possible for your favourite character to be a vile murderer. The morals of a character have got nothing to do with how well is the character written. This reply contains spoiler information. Show reply

I agree. It's really outstanding. By the way, who is Emma Jane?
This is Christie's masterpiece, I think. I forgot to tell my favorite scene. Well, my fave scene is Chapter 14.5.
Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear.
When the wealthy patriarch, Aristide, is murdered, suspicion falls on the whole household. ...
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help ...

Well, I rate this 10/10. I really loved this book. I simply get thrilled reading this book over and over again. I don't know who's my favorite character but the characters are so real and Christie made them excellent characters! The setting is also excellent but a bit scary. I really love the twists, the plot and almost everything except two characters. Agatha Christie is really very creative when writing novels like this. What can you say?
