Recomendations Please

My second ever Post! I have read a lot about what people think about the books. Can you please recomend my a book. I will consider your recomendations. Also can you post a short synopsis? Thank You

I checked out your reading list to see which AC books you have read already and to get sort of a general idea at what books you would like. And my post will be sort of long as I can't think of how to word the plot in just a few sentences.

For you, I would recommend reading Hickory Dickory Dock (1955).  Poirot is the main detective and he has been commisioned by Ms. Lemons to help her sister who is a den mother at a hostile. Ms. Lemon's sister and the tenants have all been plagued with recent thefts, mostly petty items were pilfered but they were things convenient to their necessities. Most importantly an expensive ring was also stolen so that is why it was taken seriously.

Long story short petty thefts soon turn into a string of murders along w/ a rumor of smuggled goods. (I won't tell you what it is in fear that it would give too much away).

I read this about 2 years ago and I liked it but it wasn't until recently that I really apprecited the book, mainly because: It has many suspects, and very colorful characters, and it's nice to see Poirot interacting w/ the younger generation.

I think you would like it TB.

I also have read ATTWN so stand alone novels could be good (I am currently reading Why Didn't They Ask Evans?)

So many to recommend! Well, I suppose I should start with my favourite!

I would urge you to read Appointment With Death as I think it shows Poirot at his deductive best. Now for a bit of plot summary... bear with me as I'm not good at this sort of thing!It concerns the relationships of the Boynton family from America who are holidaying in the Middle East. Whilst on a visit to Petra, old Mrs Boynton, a domineering tyrant, is found dead but a young doctor, Sarah King, puts this down to heart failure. For her family, this means freedom to live their own lives. However, a fellow traveller is missing a hypodermic syringe and a signifcant amount of digitoxin... Luckily for Colonel Carbury, Hercule Poirot is passing through and agrees to talk to the family and the others who were in Petra at the time of the death. Having overheard some very suggestive words uttered by one of them in Jerusalem, Poirot beleives this is murder...

Yes, I know I've made it sound rather dull but I think it is a wonderful book. Poirot's methods of whittling down the evidence is masterly. And the setting of Petra heightens the atmosphere of a family close to the brink. Go on, give it a go...if only to find out what the hell I'm blabbering on about!!

Hickory Dickory Dock sounds different to any Christie's I have read before so it will have to be that. I will tell you what I thought after I have read it. I will buy it on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for the the recomendations Bundle. ( Appointment with Death will be the one that I read after Hickory Dickory Dock)
