Anyone else a fan of Mr. Goby? I seriously LOL at AC's descriptions of what inanimate object he converses with rather than Poirot!
1. Ariadne Oliver- clear first!
2. Cornelia Robson, such a beautiful nature...
3. For some obscure reason, I remember the girl "Socks" from The Seven Dials Mystery...
It is impossible to neme a favourite 3, If we rule out The Beresfgords, Miss Marple and Poirot and Recurring Characters it us a bit easier.
For Men I like Bobby Jones, Colonel Carbury and Charles Haywood and with Women I like Anne Beddingfield, Francess Derwent and Emily Trefusis but I am sire there are better Characters of either sex, I don't like any from Sparkling Cyanide or Endless Night and only Mr Coleman in Murder In Mesopotamia and none in Death Comes As The End. I am sure I like alot I can't actually remember At The Minute but as they aren't jumping out at me perhaps not.
This is kind of obvious, but ... Miss Marple. She is one of the most wonderful characters I have ever encountered in any work of fiction. I wish she was real and I could have tea with her. Also, I adore Dolly Bantry.
I cannot help liking Philip Lombard. Possibly this goes to show that AC was right about women falling for "bad lots".
And I love most of the characters in The Hollow - though a lot of them are not actually likable, they are so well written.
Poirot: Alexander Bonaparte Cust (ABC) and Linnet Ridgeway (Nile)
Marple: Lucy Eyelsbarrow (4.50) and Griselda (Vicarage)
Other: Emily Trefusis (Sittaford) and Ann Bedingfield (Chimneys & Seven Dials)
1) Lucy Eyelesbarrow
2) Captain Arthur Hastings
3) Sophia Leonides
Bobby Jones
Alan Cade
Anne Beddingfield
It was a close run thing, I nearly added Tomy Beresford and Colin Lamb but I thought I would be perdantic, as this is in the Non-series section.
My favourite characters are:
1) Caroline Crale from 'Five Little Pigs'. What a tragic tale that was. I thought the TV adaptation to the novel was particularly moving.
2) Dora Bunner from 'A Murder is Announced'.
3) probably Jacqueline de Bellefort from 'Death on the Nile'.
I agree, there way too many of them, but I 'll try to have my pick at this late hour:
1) Jerry Burton, from "The Moving Finger", for being one of the few handsome and reliable male characters in AC 's novels
2) Mrs Folliat, from "Dead Man 's Folly', for being such a great lady
3) Lyhn Marchment, from "Taken At The Flood", for her unusual and contradictory personality.
Aaargh! Me too! Is it possible to retrospectively put a spoiler warning on your post, cameronjhw? To save anyone else stumbling upon it?
Anyway.... Great question - favourite characters:
1) Anthony Cade (no prizes for guessing that!) -Secret of Chimneys
2) Virginia Revel - Secret of Chimneys
2) Tony Browne - Sparkling Cyanide
Though ask me on a different day, and I'd probably find that 3 different names spring to mind! There are so many fabulous characters!
oh i'm so sorry for you
it's happen to me too!
my 3 are:
1. Jacqueline De Belfort (Death On The Nile)
2. Mrs. Hubbard (Murder On The Orient Express)
3.Carlotta Adams (Lord Edgware Dies)
I think you forgot spoiler warning as I just read the Crooked house murderer!!!! Ive not read that one, oh no..

My 3 favorite characters besides Poirot are:
1. Josephine (Crooked House)-although she was the killer and also demented she reminds me of myself because I'm a huge fan of detective stories also because she likes to spy on people and thinks she is clever.
2.Tony Browne (Sparkling Cyanide)-he is witty, good-looking, has a mysterious past and he ends up being a good guy and married Iris Marle
3. Countess Andrenyi-(Murder on the Orient Express)-because she suffered a lot from the kidnapping and murder of Daisy Armstrong and because she described as being so beautiful and very attractive
other characters-Masterman, MacQueen, Hardman, Charles Hayward, Kameni, Hori, Simon Doyle, Salome Otterbourne, Patrick Redfern, Miss Brewster, The Gardeners.
1. Christopher Wren (The Mousetrap)
2. Jacqueline de Bellefort (Death on the Nile)
3. Mrs Hubbard (Murder on the Orient Express)
Very good question.....hmm...........
These are in a random order by the way..
(1) Johnny (Seven dials mystery)
(2) Vera Claythorne (And then there were none)
(3) Corneila (Death on the nile)
Apart from those there are many characters I like....but its a long list.
Favourite characters (apart from Hercule!)
!. Victoria Jones. Forget all those Ladies and Honorables, in They Came to Baghdad Christie gives us a totally believable portrait of a real flesh-and-blood working girl!
2. Michael Rogers. Another working class hero, from the excellent Endless Night, a drifter who dreams of a better life. (And a compelling study of a certain mentality......)
3. OK, a middle class character, not to put a spoiler on it, but the serial killer par excellence in Murder is Easy (And the "red herring" is a very well-drawn character, too). Read this hidden gem of a book, and let Christie gently lead you up the garden path!
Its hard to pick a favourite.
1. Mr Quin, I think he's one of the most enigmatic of Christie's characters. I can't say why i like him. When I was reading the Mr Quin books, I never knew what might happen, when he'd appear. He's described as being good looking, probably (I'm hoping) in a dark, brooding and mysterious way! Plus he helps couples in need, so he's quite romantic!
2. Caroline Sheppard in Murder of Rodger Ackroyd. She is very funny, very witty. She would be an annoying neighbour to have thouh, as she's so nosy! But like her brother said, she's got a good heart. I always wondered what her reaction would have been after the events at the end of the book. I would have quite liked a short story recap, where Poirot goes back to King's Abbot and meets Caroline again.
3. I also loved Lucy in The Hollow. She added some light relief and was delightfuly eccentric.
Clearly, Philip Lombard!
Miss Marple is my favourite major character.
Aurorawhat story is she existed?
RobinHerneI also like Mr. Satterwhaite. He appeared in the 12 short stories in the book "The Mysterious Mr. Quin."
Hmm Good Question
Probably
1. Colonel Race
2. Mrs. Otterbourne
3. Hmm... Probably David Lee
My fave in The Mysterious mr. Quin is the Marge from the Voice in the Dark
JessieLIs that in the 12th short story "Harlequin's Lane" where Anna Denman appeared? I just scanned my book.
This is a very difficult question, indeed. Only 3? Hmm. My favourite would probably have to be Hastings, but as for the rest, I can't really say which characters I prefer. The top of my list of favourites would include characters such as Poirot, Dr. Lord, Thomas Royde, Mary Aldin, Kenneth Marshal, Rosamund Darnley, Edward Angkatell, Hori...
Top 3 apart from Poirot & Miss Marple:
1. Anne Beddingfield (The Man in the Brown Suit)
2. Rosamund Darnley (Evil under the Sun)
3. ........Dunno........
Well those 2 are my favourite from the Christies i've read till date! The future is still bright.
I don't know
dada222but why is he your favorite?

dada222Dr. Roberts? well I extremely dislike him. You know why
This is difficult. My favourite one is Mr. Quin ('The mysterious mr. Quin'), Dr. Roberts (cards on the table), and I think Alistair Blunt from 'Buckle my shoe'.
Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear.
When the wealthy patriarch, Aristide, is murdered, suspicion falls on the whole household. ...
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help ...
