And Then There Were None

I have just watched for the first time the 1945, black and white film version of 'And Then There Were None'. I have read the book, but some things in the film were different, such as names and parts of the story. What are your opinions of the film if you have watched it?

It's a well-made movie in its own right, and I enjoyed it immensely, but there was one aspect of it that deeply disappointed me. And no, it was not the ending like everyone else says; that I was okay with. It was Vera Claythorne's crime change. In the book, she is accused of murdering a little boy and she did do it; in the movie, she is accused of murdering her sister's fiancee and she did not do it. It basically takes what made her character so complex and then waters it down. In the book, she is the closest thing to a protagonist we have yet is also deeply flawed; in the movie, she is just a cardboard damsel-in-distress, which is no fun to watch. We have Lombard for a sort-of protagonist, but it's still disappointing.

People are nearly always going to be dissapointed by Adaptations, In 2 occcassions I have felt the Adaptations were boring (Five Little Pigs and The Blue Train Mystery) and afew times Very Dissapointed (Body In The Library, Towards Zero, Sleeping Murder and Cards OnThe Table) Although I was dissapointerd they insisted on putting Miss Marple in Toweardss Zero as I think Battle is a Briliant Character I wasn't Angry but I was with Sleeping Murder, Body In The Library and Cards On The Table and am prepared to be Dissapointed if not angry in the Future

The book is so much better! I personally do not like the movie I mean it was okay.

I too have often wanted to go to an Island, this version was on Yesterday but was unable to see it, In the book all 10 died which for me was very unsatisfactory, I have only seen 3 versions My favourite being the one with Oliver Reed, Shirley Eaton and Richard Attenborough, I hope one day to collect 7 of the 9 versions (I won't collect the Russian ones)> I think it is highly time we had another version

This is one of my favorite movies. The ending is different from the book, but I love it. I always wanted to go to the island, it seemed so mysterious, maybe because the original was in black and white and seemed to have an eerie feel about it. A great movie for a rainy day.
