Favourite Poirot scenes

I was wondering what everyones favourite scenes are in the Suchet adaptations?

I love the closing scene in Death on the Nile, it's really poignant.

The gathering of the suspects in Death in the Clouds.

The Affair at the Victory Ball all the costumes.

In the velied lady Hasting's is so amazed by the lady under the veil he remarks "I say!" it made me laugh. :)

Nigel Chapman with damp hair in Hickory Dickory Dock (I'm sorry couldn't resist putting that in!)

I like the scene in The Spasnnish Chest when Hastings is trying to open the Bathroom Door, I always Hope The Doctor will open it and Hastings will fall on the floor but he never does, I also like Poirot's Dancing earlier in the Episode, It is as funny as Miss Marple's in Murde At The Gallop

I love the scene in "The ABC Murders" at the very beginning. Hastings arrives to visit Poirot:

"You're looking in fine fettle, Poirot," I said. "You've hardly aged at all. In fact, if it were possible, I should say that you had fewer grey hairs than when I saw you last."

Poirot beamed at me.

"And why is that not possible? It is quite true."

"Do you mean your hair is turning from grey to black instead of black to grey?"

"Precisely."

"But surely that's a scientific impossibility!"

"Not at all."

"But that's very extraordinary. It seems against nature."

"As usual, Hastings, you have the beautiful and unsuspicious mind. Years do not change that in you! You perceive a fact and mention the solution of it in the same breath without noticing that you are doing so!"

I stared at him puzzled.Without a word he walked into his bedroom and returned with a bottle in his hand which he handed to me.  ...

"Poirot! You have dyed your hair!"

*** Really, Hastings?

I love the scene in The Hollow where Poirot arrives off the train and asks the man who came to pick him up what is that smell?  The man replied that it is just good country air.  Poirot turns his nose up a bit in dislike!  Very funny.

Also in The Hollow, when Lucy Angkatell tells her husband that they must go see one of Veronica Cray's movies "after that little performance she just gave!"

I love the Christmas setting in the house on Theft of the Royal Ruby.  I am planning my family Christmas around that scene where the family and guests are all seated around the table having their Christmas pudding and in the living room playing charades and having coffee.  These scenes are going to be the effect I am going for at my house this year.

We always love to see the clothing Hastings wears!  He is a fantastic dresser in this series, he is tall and looks most attractive in his clothing.  White pants with a navy double-breasted jacket and elegant hat.  Exquisite overcoats and suits, shirts and ties!  Always appropriate!  I wish men still took so much care in their appearance today!

We enjoy hearing all the eccentric phrases used by the Tripp sisters in Dumb Witness!  They are hilarious!

In the seance scene at the end of Peril at End House, when Poirot surprises and dumbfounds Miss Lemon by introducing her as a famous spiritual "medium"  Madam Lemon (with added French accent).  Her expression is priceless, but she doesn't hesitate a second and starts right in leading a seance as if she has done it a million times!

I love this question and would love to sit here and think of some more, but I have to go, for now.  Maybe I will come back and add others!  Great idea!

Ive been watching them on ITV3 and I love the masked ball in Affair at the Victory Ball. I love it when Poirot is asked to dance!

I love the end of The Hollow and Five Little Pigs, was chilling.

Yes, Poirot is arrested in the episode "Yellow Iris," where he is accused of being a spy and sent away from South America.  He is also suspected of being a spy in "Triangle at Rhodes," but he is not arrested, just delayed long enough so he misses his boat.  At least then he is able to solve the case.

Yeah I remember that! He is on a bike riding down the road to the house! So funny!

My fav:  Murder on the Links.  When Poirot and Hastings arrive at the hotel, Poirot realizes that Hastins has come for golf and says, "To put the little ball into the little hole in the middle of a big field.  No.  This is not to the liking of Poirot."  And the scene ends with the porter asking if the clubs are Poirot's.  He says sharply, "Non," and walks away.  It's perfect!

Also, about Poirot being in jail:  He was also in jail in The Veiled Lady.  He "installed" a security system in a man's house just to come back later with Hastings to search the place.

I'm pretty sure now that Poirot was arrested in Rhodes. But there may have been a simular storyline in Yellow Iris.

Yes, it is Triangle at Rhodes. I can picture the scene in my mind now my memories been jogged. I prefer the older episodes. I think the hour long episodes are simular in tone to the short stories. But the feature lengths are sometimes perkier in tone, more attempt at humour than the books. Dumb witness for instance was too light for me. But i still love them. But I like some of the other serious episodes like the Hollow and five little pigs. Different but brilliant.

I did think that Poirot got arrested in the Yellow Iris, the old ones are brilliant, Miss Lemmon, Hastings and Japp are great characters.  The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was so sweet when Poirot and Japp met up again.

I hope I am right Miss Quinn, I think the older Episodes are better, Cosier, but maybe Agatha didn't mean for them to be Cozy and have hidden meanings which I don't get, I keep on thinking of that Shakespeare Quote "There is something nasty in the wood shed" I might have quoted wrongly.

Oh, thank you Tommy. My memory is really bad as I only saw that episode last year. There's one line about "I'm not a angry little Frenchman, I'm an angry little Belguim" or something like that? Classic :)

I notice alot of the fave moments come from the old style Poirot.

I'm not obese! That's very good as well.

It's Triangle of Rhodes Miss Quinn, I like the scene where Poirot realises he has been brought to give the B&B; man an ending for his Manuscript in Tragedy at Marsden Manor.

When Poirot gets arrested! And gets put in jail! I loved that, but I can't remember what it was from...

I'll keep adding scenes as I remember them. All the ones you said were excellent.

The end one in the Hollow was really moving, the whole episode was fantastic.
