I wonder which Episodes he watches, I suoppose it is the last 10-12 buit I wonder if he watches some more than others and I wonder if Hugh (Fraser) and him ever socialize outside Filming
A heads up to anyone interested that David Suchet could be heard on this weeks episode of "Front Row" (Radio 4), still available to listen to on the BBC iPlayer:
EXCERPT:
In October, I start to film the last [story]... The reason I don't want to do that film [Curtain] last is because I don't want to leave him in the state that he is at the end of that book; I don't want to leave myself grieving over him. I want to remember him alive and kicking, and very well, so after I have filmed that, there are four more stories, and then that will be the end and I will hang up his shiny shoes and spats, and wave him goodbye. It will be sad for me. I will have mixed emotions, I will be very sad to lose such a dear friend who's actually been responsible for me getting these sort of roles in the theatre...
[Suchet then goes on to talk about the play, "Black Coffee", but only mentions the one performance in Chichester, and also states the cast will not be in costume for the reading, but he will try to get 'the moustache']
I will start preparing for an October shoot in August because it's not an easy glove... I also have to try and watch ten to twelve hours of previous episodes to try and match [the performance]...
I hadn't thought of that, It was a bit short-sighted of the Producers and ITV not to think that, In a perfect World they should have had that all thought out before starting aswell as Casting (James Fox could have played Race in both the ones Race are in but there again they should have put it in his Contract that he must be available for Cards On The Table and Death On The Nile) but in a perfect World they should have been able to do the Novels in Order.

Why Do you say that Pale_Horse? I can't think of anything they need to change in the book although as I think I have said before it would be nice to change the ending to have a Funeral that Japp, Miss Lemon, Race, Spence and Ariadne attends or perhaps they could come and pay their respects at Styles.

IMHO Dead Man's Folly and Curtain are the only Great ones left, possibly Elephants Can Remember too.
I'm so excited that you're filming more of Poirot/David Suchet, particularly The Big Four. Thanks!
I don't think they will make The Market Basing Mystery, as it is already adapted into Murder in the Mews. Murder on the Orient Express, Three Act Tragedy, The Clocks & Hallowe'en Party have already been made. I hope they make The Big Four, as this will be the first time they have made it. I don't know what they are going to do with The Lemesurier Inheritance and The Labours of Hercules
I hope they don't miss out Dead Man's Folly It will be nice to see how it differs from the Ustinov apart from the Obvious (Not Having Hastings) I Think The Ustinov Version is a bit of |Harmless Fun and far from Attrocious but that is just my Opinion.
Oh, but the Ustinov version is atrocious. It opens with Jean Stapleton greeting Poirot as "HER-kyu-lee," and it just goes downhill from there. I'd like to see the novel get a proper treatment before they adapt an almost-unknown novella.
christie_fan_tvm5. Dead Man's Folly / The Greenshore Folly (any one of them, I prefer that they could take 'The Greenshore Folly' siince 'Dead Man's Folly' has already been filmed with Peter Ustinov)
Ya so summarizing, I guess these are yet to be filmed for the ITV Series:-
1. The Big Four (though it is itself an amalgamation of 12 short stories)
2. The LeMesurier Inheritance (I badly hope they don't skip this)
3. Black Coffee
4. Poirot and the Regatta Mystery (the original Poirot version)
5. Dead Man's Folly / The Greenshore Folly (any one of them, I prefer that they could take 'The Greenshore Folly' siince 'Dead Man's Folly' has already been filmed with Peter Ustinov)
6. Elephants Can Remember
7. The Labours of Hercules (12 short stories)
8. The Capture of Cerberus (different from the one in 'The Labours of Hercules')
9. Curtain
To my knowledge, all the others have been reworked into novella form or other short stories, which have been filmed already.
What about The Capture of Cerberus?
You are right go_leafs I just checked it was done under tjhe title The Theft of the Royal Ruby, it had in it Heleba Mitchell who wass in the JH version of 'At Bertram's Hotel, Fredericj Treves who was in the JH version of 'Sleeping Murder', Stephanie Cole who in the Rafdio version of Cards On The Table played Ariadne and Nigle Le Valliant.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding had already been filmed under its alternate title, The Theft of the Royal Ruby.
I don't think so- I think you're thinking of either The Cornish Mystery or Dumb Witness. Market Basing is where a military man is found shot. The story is so close to "Murder in the Mews" that it won't be filmed. The same goes for "Second Gong" "Christmas Pudding" and "Baghdad Chest." Don't forget that two heretofore unpublished Poirot stories will be released this fall: "The Dog's Ball" is probably too close to Dumb Witness, but "The Capture of Cerberus" may or may not be different from its Labors counterpart.
I will look for that go_leafs, Was The Market Basing Mystery one where Poirot and Hastings went to a woman's house at her request and found she was already Dead?
It WAS filmed, but is I believe now considered lost:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021669/
I went back and checked, and apparently, a TV version was made in '73.
Thank you. Yes Black Coffee hasn't been filmed as yet as per IMDB.com. Market Basing mystery seems quite similar to Murder in the Mews so that is why they probably missed it. Not sure why they missed The Lemesurier Inheritance - that is the only short story missing apart from the Labours.
Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear.
When the wealthy patriarch, Aristide, is murdered, suspicion falls on the whole household. ...
Travelling on the Orient Express, Poirot is approached by a desperate American. Afraid that someone plans to kill him, Ratchett asks Poirot for help ...

I went through the list of Poirot stories to find out what remains to be filmed. I found the following -
- The Big Four
- Murder on the Orient Express
- Three Act Tragedy
- The Labours of Hercules (all 12)
- The Market Basing Mystery
- The Lemesurier Inheritance
- Dead Man's Folly
- The Clocks
- Halloween Party
- Elephants can remember
- Curtain
Is this right?
