Magaret Rutherford was a fine actor, and yes, for the time the films were made she was the best choice. Thanks for the info about Mr. Stringer, he was fun to watch.
Each to their own.
To be honest, I don't think Margaret Rutherford was the right Miss Marple. She was my least favourite Marple actor... :P
I liked her Portrayal as Miss Marple, It isn't to be taken too seriously but the Films are great to watch as entertrainment IMHO and were made in a less sophisicated age so they can be forgiven for not being true to the books in a way the ITV Marple series cannot be forgiven IMHO

What is your opinion about her portral of Miss Marple? For the time period this was filmed, I thought she did a fine job. Her side-kick, Mr. Stringer was her real life husband, Stringer Davis. The films weren't as "fine" as later films, but I thought they were all right for the time. Comments?
