More Poirot?

I emailed ITV to ask if they had any news about the remaining Poirots to be filmed. They replied: 

At the moment we do not have confirmed details regarding the filming of further episodes of Poirot.

I don't know if that sounds promising or not. At least they didn't say there were no details at all!

MissQuin I thought you summed up Halloween Party really well and with added insight too.

Yes I guessed the murderer and that he was Miranda's Father! - also that Rowena was invovled.

The masks were great.  I didn't work out the vase being dropped though at first.

Sounds like we would all "more like this please" from ITV?

I hadn't thought of that Miss Quin, Making Michael more Prominant Telegraphed the whole thing or why else was he so Prominant, I have read trhe book so I knew anyway but I think If I hadn't I would know he was the Murderer but there again I will never know.

Halloween Party:  It's true that they never would have gone though all that trouble in a village in the 30's. But I think most people would overlook it, because how else would the story work?

After the Appointment with death with I found utterly dreary, this adapt was a breath of fresh air. I loved the scene with Micheal in the mask, it was so sinister, he really had enchanted her.

I'm glad that although Poirot found the murder or children terrible, he didn't get too preachy. He didn't get his rosary beads out and such, like some of the recent ones. I loved the scene where he was told by the police "we have modern methods now, we don't need you" sort of thing. Poirot tried to look as though he was humbled, which he wasn't!

Also for once ITV had their timeing spot on. It was just right for dark nights and cold weather, to be curled up with a good Chrisite adapt.

Mrs Hastings- As you haven't read the book, did you guess who the murderers were? I didn't when I read it, but I would have supsected him on TV, because he was more prominent.

I agree entirely with everything you have said. I thought the whole 30's Halloween style was very overlooked. Pumpkins and decorations everywhere. No nuns carving swastikas thank god. Very colourful, tense, with beautiful settings and at times chilling. In my humble opinion, I think it improved on the book. This adaption was close to the book but made minor improvements for the better. My fave Poirot adaption and I hope they continue to make adaptions in this style.

HALLOWEEN PARTY SPOILERS!!!! Ive only just finnished watching it and I loved it! The recent Poirot's have been pretty mundane and colourless, but Halloween party was vibrant, yet creepy and memorable. I'd gladly watch it again. 

The casting was superb Julian Rhind-Tutt was excellent as the charismatic but evil Micheal Garfield. The  atmosphere was very creepy and tense. But there were some lighter moments, Poirot shoes, the cat and the "witch". Also a special mention to the girl who played Miranda, she seemd so ethereal and innocent I wanted to shout "NO!!!" as Micheal tried to poison her.

There was even a scene that seemed to be paying homage to Millias Ophelia. The tragic Beatrice lay in the lake with her red hair swirling around her like Lizzie Siddal.

The downpoints? Well there wasn't much in the way of 1930's Halloween accurancy, but as the adapt was so superb I'd overlook it. Hard bitten Rowela Drake's breakdown at the end could have been a bit more subtle I guess. But apart from that, really excellent adapt.

Comparsions to the book: There were a few changes but mainly for the better actually. The book has some complex characters, an innovative murder (bobbing for apples and DIE!) and a good plot. But what's prevented it making my 10 ten was I did find it rather overlong such as conversations. But once these parts had been trimmed down, it made for a great paced story.

Anyone else love it?

I enjoyed Halloween Party last night - though I laughed as Rowena went through the woodland as it didn't seem that scary!!

The plot line was sinister and Poirot superb as always.

Don't know how close to the book this adaptation was though and suspect others will.

You have missed the meaning of my post entirely. I was merely pointing out that real modern day gispies don't usually dress in that steroeotyped fashion.
