Hello :)  I'm a long time Mystery! fan here in the U. S., but, alas, my memory is failing me.  I've been curious about the changes in David Suchet's moustaches through the years.  I seem to remember that the earlier movies had a quite different style than the more recent movies, but I can't find any photos online to prove this.  What can you tell me to help me satisfy my curiosity?

Here are some assorted photos: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=david+suchet+poirot&gbv=2&aq=0&oq=David+Suchet&aqi=g1g-m2

Suchet's Poirot moustaches are made of horsehair, I think.  He has gone through a lot of them (they wear out quickly with use), and when they can't be used any more he sells them for charity.  The style has changed quite a bit over the years.

This one is quite different than the more recent versions.  Perhaps this is the one I was used to years ago.  What I should probably do is get some of the earlier movies to view.

Thanks,  GKCfan!

You're welcome!

TheButlerDidIT, go to Google Images and search for David Suchet Poirot.  You'll find tons of images there.

I have been coming to this site and reading the posts for about a year now and I have to say that this topic heading must definitely win the prize for being the funniest I've seen.

You know you're in the presence of mad, keen AC fans when we get onto the topic of Mr Suchet's/Poirot's moustaches!

Thanks for the giggles.

yes its true, the moustache changes. At first its very thin and curly on the ends. A saw it chang between seasons 6 and 8 it becomes thikker, just like the rest of poirot, actually

Suchet's Poirot moustaches are made of horsehair, I think.

No, they are made of real hair. But you are right, he needs some of them for one episode.

He once stated that they had endless discussions about the looking of the moustache, because it always has to fit his face, and Christie described it in so many ways.

And yes, he uses them for charity, like he does with the bow ties and the collars.

Which moustache do you all like the best?  I like the thin ones better than the thicker.

Merry Christmas!
