The Blue Geranium

I know I don't get around to posting on the Agatha Christie boards much anymore (some of the older members may remember me,) but I had to post about the new Miss Marple drama, "The Blue Geranium," since no one has posted about it yet.

I found this adaptation to be top notch! Apart from the high production values and, in my opinion, flawless performances by the entire cast, I was very impressed with the script.  It was almost as if Christie took one of her short stories and turned it into a novel, as she often did.  I also appreciated the "darker" tone of the film, which is actually much more consistent with the Miss Marple books, but it was still very enjoyable without being heavy handed.

In actuality, I've been very pleased with the entire season so far.  "The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side" was delightful and "The Secret of Chimneys", while very different from the novel, was still very tight and enjoyable.  Here's hoping for "The Pale Horse!"

Hello, several minutes in there was a picturesque shot just after Miss Marple got off the bus and in the village square. It was a "bird's eye" view of Little Ambrose and it took my breath away. I paused the show and stared at the screen for several minutes. Does anyone know where this episode was filmed? I would love to visit it online and save photos of that beautiful spot.

Thanks.

Don´t know about that, I saw it yesterday in Sweden. And once again my language has failed me. I meant before that I hope they keep adapting the short stories, not the novels (in my opinion Joan Hickson has done the novels and thats that). I meant what you Noah wrote, but its a bit confusing for me because the word novel (spelt novell) in swedish means short story in english. Sorry for my mistake and keep adapting the short stories since we haven´t seen them.

Has this been aired in the UK yet? I hope I haven't missed it.

I actually hope they keep filming the short stories, since we haven't seen those and we really aren't seeing the novels she's being dropped in in their true form.

I just saw "The blue geranium" and I found it rather ok. Well acted and I recognised parts of the intrigue from the novel though I suspect some of the threads were new in the adaptation. Sharon Small was very good as Mary Pritchard.

I hope, if they do more Marple-movies, they continues to adapt novels since we haven´t seen them before.

I remember you Noah, I can't remember if I changed from Winnebago1901 before your last post, I haven't seen The Blue Geranium yet, I see they are doing what they should have done instead of books Miss Marple wasn't in, I hope they do the other Short stories aswell.
