I enjoyed the tv adaptation of this story. All the main characters are put in different situations than usual, and David Suchet, Hugh Fraser, Philip Jackson and Pauline Moran are all magnificent as their characters in these situations.
However, with the added elements to this story, Poirot seems to become very uncaring towards his friends as he spends all his time with Vera Rossakoff while Chief Inspector Japp is about to loose his job and Miss Lemon becomes very upset at the thought of what will happen to her if Poirot leaves to marry the Countess. Captain Hastings, meanwhile, is shot at in, what we latter learn, an attempt to lead him and Miss Lemon off the scent as to who the real thief is.
Is there anyone else who is really annoyed by the way that Poirot abandoned his friends in this episode?
