Who could play who?

If you were adapting a Christie novel for fil or television who would you cast as characters? I think I would adapt ATTWN and have Micheal Caine as Wargrave. David Jason I would cast as Blore. Maybe David Tennant as Lombard (just for the ladies). How about Thelma Barlow as Emily Brent. Could Toby Stephens play Marsden? Also what about Fenella Woolgar as Vera Claythone. What do you think? Also I would stay true to the novel as I'm fed up of having to complain about the recent adaptions. I would like to say Miss Marple would NOT feature in my ideal adaption!

I think it's more likely to be Black Coffee than one of the short stories. Ive never read Black Coffee, is it any good?

I think The Big Four is fairly unpopular, but maybe they could tranform it into something better? Or is that wishful thinking?!

Hastings would have to be in Curtain. No point in filming it otherwise.

There was an article yesterday in one paper about David Suchet where he was quoted as saying that there are SIX novels left to film. I can count five - The Big Four, Dead Man's Folly, Lobours of Hercules, Elephants Can Remember and Curtain. So presumably they might be including Black Coffee ?

I agree, after all he introduced Poirot to Styles didn't he?

How about casting for the final Poirot?

I'd love to see Hugh Fraser as Hastings again. This is an adaptation where I feel Hastings is needed.

The Only Christie Character I can imagine Ian McKellen playing is Mr Satterthwaite or maybe Dr Armstrong.

Ian McKellen would be great as Justice Wargrave. I can picture him looking evilly over his spectacles..

And then there were none:

Emily Brent - Judi Dench

Macarthur - Anthony Hopkins

Dr. Armstrong - Harrison Ford

Philip Lombard - Edward Norton

Vera Claythorne - Emily Blunt

Marston - Shia Laboeuf

Blore - John Rhys-Davies

Wargrave - Ian McKellen

Mr. Rogers - David Yelland

Mrs. Rogers - Rachel Weisz

Personally I see Wargrave as Micheal Caine or David Jason not really Ian McKellan but each to their own. If he was cast he might good.

I've also been a 'fan' of Jonathan Firth since Middlemarch, he's much better looking than his more famous brother - and that's not to say Colin looks like chopped liver either !

One more for the JF fan club! I started a post just to discuss the adorable Jonathan Firth! I loved him in Middlemarch as well. I also liked Rufus Sewell? in that too. In  Far from the Madding Crowd JF was fantastic.

I think Jonatha Rhys Meyers would be convincing  in Endless, Night, but I'm not a fan of EN so I wouldn't watch it myself.

I recently saw a production of "And Then There Were None" and got to thinking about who I would cast if there were another film of it.  I think it could (and should) be redone in its original, gothic and haunting tone. My hypothetical casting:

Vera Claythorne - Rebecca Hall

Philip Lombard - Jeremy Renner

Justice Wargrave - Ian McKellan

William Blore - Ray Winstone

Dr. Armstrong - Colin Firth

Emily Brent - Helen Mirren

Rogers - Richard E. Grant

General Macarthur - Peter O'Toole

Mrs. Rogers - Emily Watson

Anthony Marston - Ben Whishaw

I agree Miss Quin, JRM would be very convincing in the role of Michael Rogers. Incidentally, Endless Night was filmed around 1970 with Hayley Mills and Hywel Bennett, the dvd is readily available on Amazon.

I thought that Jonthan Rhy Meyers would also be good as as Micheal Rogers, Endless Night because he can be seen as either handsome or menacing!

I could have swooned after styles reminded me of Nigel Chapman coming out of the shower! I nearly needed smelling salts! I'll pass them over to you Bundle.

With all this talk of HOT guys it's really a mystery to me why I haven't fainted yet

Speaking of which, if there ever will be an Endless Night adapt (hopefully w/o MM 'cause that would be a travesty)I picture an actor named Goran Visnjic playing Michael Rogers. He's really handsome but at the same time he has that menacing look MR has.

Jonathan Firth was indeed Nigel in Hickory. Stylestocurtain and I were discussing the episode. I mentioned I like it because of JF. I thought I was the only one to gaze at him and his lovely hair. There are now at least 3 members on here of the Jonathan Firth Fan Club!

I'd like to cast Matthew McNulty for having such a handsome, rougish smile and eyes. We still need someone for Mr Satterthwaite.

Is Johnathan Firth that really cute guy who played in Hickory Dickory Dock, MissQuin!?

Harry Lloyd?  He played the possessed schoolboy Baines in the Doctor Who story with the scarecrows.

Family of Blood and Human Nature they were called!

I googled it!

You should be in casting Toon! He's just right, he doesnt lookk creepy in real life, but can be made to look that way. He acted really sinister in that doctor who as well.

Harry Lloyd?  He played the possessed schoolboy Baines in the Doctor Who story with the scarecrows, if you've seen that (I believe David Tennant has a few fans round here).  He's about the right age for the part and fairly thin - get him to grow his hair, powder his face and bingo.  He can certainly do creepy.
