Harbour58, in the original story, the character of Nora Brent was called Edna Brent.  No idea why it was changed.  The actress was good though...I love this adaptation...although there are a few too many changes...Anna Massey steals the show (along with David Suchet, of course!)

Hi
I sadly missed this episode! Does anybody know when it will be repeated as I need to see it!
Thanks

I totally agree with SpearmintHippo. All of the changes - and there were others besides the ones noted - were gratuitous and pointless. All the adaptations I have seen included at least a couple dubious changes, but this one takes the prize.

Another great adaptation from the Christie stable. Die hard fans should take it for what it is ... an adaptation worthy of air time (unlike so many of the programmes aired this Christmas / New Year.) I've been fixed on Marple and Poirot reruns, and as a result am a fully satisfied and paid up memeber of the Christie Club. I could spend hours nit-picking holes in plots or finding faults with the sets (for errors in the supposed era), but why would I, when I can simply sit back and enjoy the drama unfold before my very eyes.

I love Suchet as Poirot, he's the only Poirot for me.
Quite enjoyed the dramatisation, and the character changes didn't bother me all that much. The changes to have included the Dover Castle backstory was a little confusing, but enjoyable nonetheless!

I loved this adaptation.  David Suchet is brilliant as Poirot.  Having read the book some time ago, I knew who dunnit, but that didn't stop me enjoying the film.  Which book will be dramatised next?  Can't wait for the next one!

Can anyone shed some light on why the author has used the same name for her victim - Nora Brent - also used in Nemesis?  I am a huge Christie fan, believe that Joan Hickson should be the only one shown as Miss Marple and think David Suchet is just perfect.

NOT impressed
WHAT is this Dover Castle malarkey? Why change Mrs Ramsay and her 2 boys to a father and his 2 girls? There was no significant reason for them to be changed, why not stick to the original?
Why change the character of Colin Lamb to Race - and surely any man who's fiancee dies wouldn't be kissing another girl less than a week after her death? Why change the occupation of Miss Pebmarsh (and if she is a "Miss" how did she have sons that died in the war?)
The cat lady reveals the clue of the laundry - the whole story hinges on this pivotal point yet in the adaptation it seems to go over everyone's head.
There should be 5 clocks not 4 and the whole story seems to be a triumph of style over substance.
Stuart Harcourt (he of the Murder on the Orient Express debaclé) should be in the stocks and I would be there with a basket of rotten tomatoes.
WHY MESS WITH THE ORIGINAL????
If the remaining adaptations are to be this bad what was the point in us asking ITV to film them??
I for one am really dissapointed

I really enjoyed this adaptation. The Clocks has long been my favourite Poirot novel, well done again David Suchet!

This was a tricky business! Poirot at its best indeed. Kudos to David Suchet and his film team and to ITV1, of course.

It's FABULOUS! I work at Dover Castle. I was there on the days of filming and it was used very well. Her knowledge of the site is astonishing, considering some of it is still "TOP SECRET" and was when this book was written. Was AC working there or knew of someone who was????
