Synopsis

Joyce has come to Cornwall for a painting holiday but whilst painting the local village she suddenly realises she has included drops of blood on the pavement, but none exist. A local man tells her of the local superstition that seeing blood on the pavement means a death within 24 hours! Two days later Joyce learns a woman drowned off the coast - was it an accident? Miss Marple thinks not!

In the USA this story was published in Detective Story Magazine under the title Drip! Drip!

Clever readers might spot similarities with Triangle at Rhodes, from Murder in the Mews, and Evil Under the Sun. This short story is one of The Thirteen Problems.
