The Man in the Mist
Summary
- Genre: Detective
- Format: Short Story
- Recurring Characters: Tommy, Tuppence
Synopsis
Tommy, in the guise of a cleric, and Tuppence take Gilda Glen, a glamorous actress, to her house on Morgan’s Avenue. Enshrouded in fog, en route, they meet an agitated would-be murderer, a mysterious policeman, Gilda’s elderly sister, and a real murderer.
In this episode Tommy imitates Father Brown, the Catholic priest-detective created by G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936). In his guise, Tommy also carries Brown’s characteristically shabby umbrella. This short story appeared in Partners in Crime, published in 1929.
