Three Blind Mice
Summary
- Genre: Murder Mystery
- Format: Short Story
- Location: England
Synopsis
The guests and residents of the newly opened guest house, Monkswell Manor, find themselves trapped by a snowstorm and threatened by a psychotic killer.
With a finite cast of characters in this ‘locked room’ mystery it is not long before suspicions are voiced and under growing pressure even newlyweds Molly and Giles start to suspect each other of being a killer.
This short story was adapted from the Radio Play of the same name which was broadcast on 26 May 1947. The radio play was commissioned by the BBC as part of the celebrations for Queen Mary’s 80th birthday. The story was published in Cosmopolitan in the USA in 1948 and in the UK it was published in Woman’s Own. It was then published in the USA in the volume Three Blind Mice and other Stories but has never been published in volume form in the UK. Christie adapted the short story into a play which has, of course, achieved its own notoriety!
